I finally have my own Clodbuster!
I picked this up from a friend yesterday. Some assembly required. :)
It has full bearings in it and the rear steer has been locked out.
There is no emblem on the grill, I thought they were either a Chevy bowtie or the 4x4x4.

Anyway, here's a quick pic of it. Now the fun begins! :tmb

The Bow Tie emblem and the "CHEVROLET" on the tailgate and decals disappeared sometime in the 1990s. My guess is because of GM's licensing fees. Those are one of the ways to determine how old a stock Clod Buster is.

Congratulations on the new ride. What do you plan to do with/to it?

I don't have any big plans for it right now. They just look like a lot of fun.
I will use it as a back yard basher for now. (Once I finish making it into a running truck)

Looks like a nice truck. Seems to have some nice little upgrades already too! Noticed you have 1/4" aluminum steering links and a full bearing kit is always nice to have. I like that grill better than the 4x4x4 one. Just add a chevy decal to it and you are all good!

Enjoy the truck!

I finally had some time to play with my Clod tonight. I threw a servo in it and wired up the Tekin Rebel 2 to one of the motors.

It moved under it's own power, but I would swear that the gears are slipping. There was no terrible grinding noise or anything, it just seemed to be slipping and and then catching up as it gained speed.

This happened with both axles (I tried both but only one at a time)

Is this normal for a Clod or do I need to start tearing the axles apart?

Thanks!

well check your rims first. its possible the lil nobs on the rim might have broke off. check that before you go tearing down your gearboxes. if thats not the case then look in the gearbox to see what you can find! best of luck with your new clod!!:tmb

Also if the tires on not glued to the rim, the rim will spin but not the tire and will have a slipping effect.

We have a winner! I feel kinda stupid for not checking that. LOL

It's running under it's own power now!
