On-board temp gauge.. work with electric motor?

dumb question?

Running the brushless in the slash, it tends to get hot.. I don't feel like carrying a temp gauge around and would be nice to keep an eye on my temps.. could I effectively run the loop of an onboard temp gauge around the motor and mount the gauge in the chassis?

anyone see any issues with doing this?

Wouldnt see why not, read some guys doing it on traxxas. I have a small handheld one I use just stick it in my pocket.

you could go all out and get the spektrum on board telemetry package that tells things like speed RPM's, heat and so on to the radio

My VXL Rustler hardly gets warm and I run an 11.1 lipo thru it and run heavy throttle most of the time in sand pullling long wheelies often up huge dunes. I would wonder why yours gets hot or what your doing to get it hot?

What brushless you got in the Slash? No binding in the drivetrain?

I agree the loop around the motor would give you a heads up on the temps. A little behind maybe but better than nothing.

mamba max plus vxl motor.. tempted 130 at the track.. I guess that's safe.. Max temp is 200.. but i never had motors get hot before.. so it makes me nervous enough to want to keep an eye on it..

no binding, etc.. no idea
