Electronic Fuel Injection, I believe, has only been around for 29 years or so.

Finally, Nascar is ditching the stone age Carburetors:laugh:laugh:laugh

It's gonna be real interesting to see how they handle it.

Gonna be harder for nascar to regulate. Reason they stuck with carbs so long they measured everything with guages now they need to worry about programming on the ecm's and fuel pressures etc etc.....

Yeah, but that's just another couple of parameters to monitor.

Yea but nascar doesnt need more parameters. They have a hard time with the rules they have.

Their trying to stay away from any kind of computer. For traction controlle and stuff like that.

This should prove interesting. Bet anyone found cheating the system gets more than just a $$ fine, more like race suspensions to scare the rest not to try it.

I wonder if their going with a throttle body or a injection system? And how are they gonna restrict the hp at daytona with efi?

Using TBI will allow them to monitor it ALOT better and they still can use restrictor plates. Only thing I see is with fuel injection is no matter how you get air in the fuel adjusts automaticaly with O2 sensors. A "vacuum leak" will allow more air in and increase the cfm. You can do the same thing with carbs but you have to jet to the cfm of the leak.

I didn't think their any vacuum lines on the cup cars? I know the tbi is the best. I wonder if the drivers will have a fule save button?

I kind of hate to see the carburetors being phased out. Its another part of the old school racing that will be gone. What the heck, It is the 21st century. :)

What's is the cost difference going to be. How many ecu s is nascar gonna let them run? Fry one and your done? Id take a carb anyway. I love the mechanical side of everything now were going electronic ........

they'll be forced to run mufflers on the exhaust next.
Some racing series already have been forced too.

They did that with all of dirt cars here in the north east. Still a pack of BB dirt mods are loud as heck.

While I don't really mind the phasing out of carburetors, I just really don't want to see our series end up like this joke of a sport:

I am required to run "mufflers" on my ElCamino when I drag race DOT classes. But what is required of a muffler is subject to opinion. My 2 chamber 2 1/2" Flowmasters do not make my exhaust sound "muffled" by any stretch of the imagination. And a single chamber..........:shk

I drive 10 minutes to work and am lucky if i can hear by the time i punch in:willy
