Old School Body

Thinking of building an old school leaf spring monster truck. Looking for a body, would like to have a body to build from. Anyone have a nice one sitting around or recommend a good paint / decal person for the job? Something from the 80's ish..

Sorry if this is placed in the wrong area.

Thanks.

Can't go wrong with a Clod hard body for a retro 80's build. I don't have a spare one sitting around, but you can get a brand new Super Clod body easily, which is the same thing basically. Unless you want to go with lexan.

For decals I've used MCI Racing a few times, pretty happy with them.

If you want to go really crazy, buy a couple RC4WD Blazer bodies and cut and blend into a pickup. Very scale, even more than the clod. Could enlarge a Midnight Pumpkin body. Guys have also scratch made Ford and Dodge bodies but that is a LOT more work.

Thanks for the reply's.
Those are the kind of body's I am thinking of, hoping to find one already done up or a recommendation on who to go to for a professional job. I lack the paint skills to start from scratch.

I have seen lots of photos of clods from back in the day with very nice looking body's and hoping to find one that is sitting on a shelf. I would prefer a hard body, I think Lexan is more appropriate for the newer race trucks since they use fiberglass bodies.

Hey Mark,

If you're looking a completely custom body (and don't mind spending some $), there's a guy on eBay and fb (don't hate me guys, it's not my fault he isn't here), that makes killer custom bodies !!! Also Joe (SemiJoe) from Joe's Truck Stop (who is a member here) does insane builds, and would probably put something together for you.

By the way, we have the same first name and (assuming your last name starts with C), we have the same last initial ... lol

Welcome, and good luck with your build.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will look into them. Not afraid to spend for quality / custom work, just having a hard time finding anyone to do it.

I think I would like something other than a Clod body, I like to be a little different but the options are few. I have considered a Toyota, there where a few built back it the day, "Maui Monster".

Also if you want the ultimate in scale and exactly what you want you always have a body 3-D printed there $$$ but true one off . I am considering it for project and couple buddies have had amazing bodies done ...

I don't do the hard body stuff... but I can airbrush a lexan old school body for you. Jconcepts has some good bodies to choose from.

PM me and we can talk through some options.

Blackfoot body would look sweet, too. Might need to stretch it a bit, make it a lwb.
Have thought about that, I like those bodies. A bit small but maybe it would work well with the Blackwell axles as I understand they are a little small for clod tires. I would need to go 2.2 I guess.
