Im a noob to rc monster truck racing, and after reading the rules i have a few questions

If i run a crystal receiver do i have to have all the available channels? If no what do i need then?

Ok i understand i will be put in the rookie class. I am having a tube frame built for my wheely king, will i have to race in the tubers class, when and if i graduate from the rookie series?

Thanks

Welcome aboard. We are always glad to see new faces. If you go back to the rule book you will see a section that has specific channels for each division (racing and pulling). The racing channels are split up between the two tracks. You would be looking at the channels for track "B" since that is where the tube trucks run. The Novice class also runs there, but you may not want to be in that class. Depending on your driving skills you may not want to race with the kids, which is what that class is pretty much made up of. Either way we look forwrad to seeing you at the Worlds in October.

Ok, I'll try to help here a little. First, like Darren said, welcome tp the NRCTPA.

If it is the 2WD Wheely King.......
You have some choices here if the Wheely King is the truck you will be racing. If you leave it in completely stock form, you could race it in 2WD Stock Tough Truck. You are allowed to change tires, body, use bearings and an esc. Everything else must stay the same. Check the rule book for more info on that class.

You could run it in 2WD Modified Tough Truck and do whatever you want for the most part with modifications. The rule book will guide you.

Those two classes are your only options if it is 2WD. Like Darren said, the Novice class is really for the kids.

Now, if you have the 4WD Wheely King.........
You could run it in:
1. Shaft Drive
2. Tube Chassis
3. Open
4. 4WD Modified Tough Truck
However, there are many rules to follow for these classes except for Open which really has none.

You mentioned Tube Chassis. There is a minimum weight for that class and you would likely have to add weight to get the truck legal. All but the 4WD Mod Tough Truck and Open require the truck to have Clodbuster sized tires. Open needs at least E-Maxx sized tires.

For us to really help you, please post as many stats on the truck as you can here in your topic and we can better guide you to where the truck will be most suitable to race.

Heres are some stats as of right now

Novak 13.5t ballistic motor
Mambam Max pro esc
Stock tires and wheels
nimih battery

Other then that right now its bone stock minus some integy aluminum four links(just replaced the old ones, so there not any longer or shorter) Ill see if i can find a scale some where to weigh it. Anything else you need? I guess the novice class would be ok for a little i am 14 (soon to be 15) but have had my wheely king for over a year now so idk. Just tell me what you need to know and ill see if i can get it for you.

I sorta wanna race and FS my WK so which class should i look into?

The thread on mayhem he has shows it as a 4wd.

Like Mike said though, with the stock tires you're limited to 4wd tough truck. You might have a good chance though, since all the former participants of the class have been chased out by the "all 4 tires the same size" rule (the class was traditionally made up of 4wd buggies with truck conversions with a few other trucks sprinkled throughout).

Ok if i have a clod and want to race at the NR/CTPA world finals do i have to be at the event everyday or can i just come and compete on the Saturday and Sunday events?

The results of both days are combined together. So you should go both days. If you want to do drag racing or elimination (if elimination is ran), they run on Friday night.

"Maximum of two 2 cell LiPo packs or a maximum of 14 "C" cell NiMh or NiCad. Must be in stock location"

Another noob question, if my truck has a battery slot (thunder tech ripper pro) do i put the battery there or in the stock location, and if so where is the stock location lol. Thanks for helping me out by answering all my noob questions :rock

I know this may be a wierd question but....., Can i run both mod clod and novice with 2 diffrent trucks? reason being we might bring my friend up to race my 2nd WK,(he has never even driven a rc) And so i was wondering if i could compete against him, or do i have to put him in 4wd mod tuff truck with me?

Also will there be two classes racing at the same time? I just dont wanna get caught racing one type and have to miss the other.

Also what is the schedule? as in what normally happens friday saturday and sunday?

You cannot run same truck in multiple classes. IF they miss you on the other track, you can go after you marshal.
