Noobie from Pittsburgh

I'm gettin back into RC after not really messing with my trucks since about 2000.. I have a box stock clodbuster(except for an ESC) that i'm considering running in the retro class and id like to get a tube chassis clod to play around with.. i also have a super blackfoot and bush devil that i mess around with as well as two cars. I grew up watching monster trucks in the 80's so thats why the retro class apeals to me.. I never really honed my driving skills so even thou i been around for a while i'm pretty much still a novice.

maybe you guys can fill me in on what has changed since i've been outta the game.. brushless motors is something i dont know about. i think when i got out is when the tube chassis were just starting to appear.. i found some old papers i had printed out of the new era tuber and never ended up getting one.. my 1:1 cars became my hobby. :)

Welcome to RCMT

That bush devil, if in good shape can fetch $ from a collector on e-pay.

Brushless is the new powerplant for just about everything.
Lipo is the battery type that you'll want to read on on, and try. OMG power capabilities when combined with brushless setups. :drool

Brush motors and nimh are slowly being phazed out. When you see the power and runtime now offered you won't want to go back.

bush devil is really worth money? its the same thing as a super blackfoot? the chassis itself on mine is excellent.. i mostly drove it on the street.. the body is beat thou..i painted it like bigfoot because it was lexan and put the decals on a super blackfoot body.. i still have the box too, its Mint.

i'll check out that battery and motor info. thanks

Bush Devil chassis isn't worth as much without the body, but you can check on tamiyaclub.com That is where many Tamiya collectors show their stuff, and can get you pricing. That blue chassis, and reddish pink wheels still should fetch something. More than the Super anyway. That box, have all the inserts and such, if so that can even fetch up to 50 bucks by itself.

I would have liked to go brushless but haven't felt comfortable storing those lipo battery's at the house.... plus I like to walk away from the charger to do other things while charging and lipo just isn't that safe yet .... if any one has some input feel free to chime in....
