Thanks guys!! well unfortunately this project has taking a back seat for a while because im working on my other trucks for racing. But since its a possibility that i will run in the demo with no limit rc of pa/md at monster jam in philly, i may just tinker with it a little bit. if i make any changes ill be sure to post them on here!!!!

back in progress!!!

Hey peeps!!!:tmb i finally got back to my project and made some changes to it. first i dumped the trx 3.3 and remote starter ( i put that in my tmaxx) when to a hpi .18 engine i had for a while. also i made some changes to the spur gear by retrofitting it with a traxxas spur gear but the downside is that i dont have a slipper clutch put the upside is that i change spur gears and possibly the clutch bell to change the ratios.

pic of retofitted spur gear

i also change the brakes to metal. this came off of my mad force and the hub was the right size.

spur gear( i used a ax10 spur gear hub)

since the spur gear is bigger i had to space the motor mount with some nuts.

more progress soon!!!

finally got the truck out today for an abbreviated break-in!!!!

here is a short vid
http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c391/DMAXX2005/?action=view&current=nitromonsterkingbreakin_0001.mp4

the sound at the last part of the vid were the gears. on of the problems of not having a slipper it that i cant get brakes real hard so i will have to find a way to add a slipper. Also, im goin to play with gear ratio maybe go up a couple tooth on the clutch (it is currently 20t) or go down a couple on the spur (66t) to accelerate it a little hard.

so far with the exception of the servo giving out on me, i was a able to get a couple runs on it and nothing major broke yet!!!!

nitro monster king update 9/27

Well after a month of sitting on the shelf, i finally was able to back on track with this truck. and finally solved my gearing dilemma i was going the wrong way with the gearing! i was originally using a 22t clutch bell and 66t spur, but it would not accelerate at all (especially in grass) so instead i went the other way and used a 15t clutch and 72t spur. that was the ticket because now couple with the rumble tires it moves out with some authority!!!! now i just need to tune it for power. here are some pics::

pics of the clutch/spur combo, as you can see finally got it lined up!!!

so far when i ran the truck everything seems to hold up so far considering i still dont have a slipper clutch for it and i locked the rear diffs. and the only problem i have so far is the brake cam keeps locking up after i press the brake.

more progress to come!!!!

well unfortunately that style wouldnt work for me because i would have to change over to hpi gears. i have traxxas gears and bell on this truck. but i have tried to to do something similar to that with a traxxas tmaxx gear shaft but its to short.

When you had the traxxas motor in there how did it run sideways? I was thinking of using my tmaxx to make a nitro king.
