My delivery from Stormer finally came today! :D

WoW!!! Tamiya really doesn't bother to pack their kits very well anymore do they??? What a mess when I opened the box. :p

I can't believe it came like that! Looks like they just threw it all in with no thought at all of organization.

Either way you are lucky to have the truck lol.

huh
mine had some cardboard dividers

Enjoy the build, it's pretty straight forward, nothing really difficult

Yeah, mine had nothing in the box to divide or protect everything from bouching around inside, everything is all tossed around in there thanks to UPS. I was so surprised when I opened the box, I didn't touch a thing, just took a pic of it incase I have anything damaged. Hopefully nothing is broken or damaged though.....

Tamiya included another whole spare set of transmission gears. Is this some kind of sign or something? LOL :D

only 1 you'll ever possibly need is the spur gear, mainly because if you use the stock tamiya pinion it's soft and wears quickly
Best bet is to bbuy and use a robinson racing 32p gear instead

I know the Tamiya aluminum pinions are horrible and wear out super fast, luckily I odered some Robinson 15t pinions because I'm going to be runnning Clod wheels with Rumble Tires so I wanted to gear it down a bit and see how it goes.

I usually replace any of my Tamiya's pinions with Robinson if it's gonna get used much.

yeah that is how the inside of the box is, mine was like that too... and yeah Tamiya pinions don't really wear out as such... they kinda... dissolve...

mine's been painted as the instructions but is flip/chameleon green and purple instead or black/red - had it painted by a professional painter

and yeah two sets of tranny/transfer case gears!

liked how it didn't have the divider as It didn't stay a kit for long... mine got 5 channel radio (Planet T5) and TITANIUM geared servos

the standard wheels aren't that bad to run on, but with the 19 tooth pinions, it is faster than my TXT-1, but the TXT-1 size wheels are an improvement as the Agrios wheels do not have the luxury of helping the suspension out with bumps

and I do have TXT-1 wheels coming for it, but spent enough on it atm...

and yeah it's an easier build than the TXT-1....

I have a set of Clod white wheels for mine and a set of Rumbles on the way. Going to run a Tamiya TEU-106bk ESC, Futaba 4PL radio and Hitec Servo. Gonna add rear stear a little later.

Does anyone know if the Hesse Planetaries on his site are the new ones I've seen that have the covers on them? Not much in the way of information on the Hesse page on the parts. I also want to add beadlock rings to my white wheels.

I actually emailed Mike yesterday about planetaries. He can still do both but it sounded like the ones with covers needed to be made. Send him an email and see what he says.

Thanks, I did send him a PM this morning. If I don't hear back I'll email him, I would like the new style, those look killer!

I've decided to do something a little different with my TXT-2 sideplates, was intially going to do the Lexan mod, but I decided to strip the anodizing using, then I used some 600 grip sand paper to give it a brushed look. I think this looks pretty good in contrast with the black frame. Hard to see the brushed effect in my pic, I took it with my phone. Came out pretty good I think, only took about 30 minutes between stripping, cleaning and light sanding in one continous direction.

I don't have any way to weigh them, plus I already installed them. They are aluminum and not very heavy anyways. In all honesty they probably help keep the COG down a little lower anyways.

I cut out all these little decals so they would look better on the aluminum, now I think I'm cross eyed from eye strain!

Great start and thanks for giving me an idea on the side plates. When I order my TXT-2 Agrios.

I actually thought they were steel. I was considering swapping them out for lexan to save some weight. The TXT-2 is nearly 1kg heavier than my Clod.

yeah I thought they were steel too... until I had one of the link end balls loosen and strip the anodizing around it and it was silver not dark greeny grey....

looks unique, I like it!

Not really diggin these bumpers, they may have to go depending on which body I end up using. I was planning on a F350 High Lift body, but the TXT-2 wheel base is slightly longer, not sure if I'm going to like that yet.

Same here buddy I don't dig the bumpers but I dig this build thread ):D get the hacksaw out I say. Once the bumpers are removed I reckon a High Lift body will look pretty sweet with txt-2 chassis.

My next build will be a txt-2 so am watching this build with keen interest :D
