Iam new to the Clod world and i love it :tmb..So i decided to purchase a CPE Terminator Race kit and modify the clod i posted a pic of awhile back..

Anyways iam having some problems putting it all together. Iam having some problems with the upper link mounts..Does anybody have pictures or any words of wisdom how it goes together ? I have searched for pics and i dont see any trucks with the same mounts that i have..

I havent a clue were this stuff goes...The long black screws and then the
two silver ones have different length shanks on them..

Basically the only thing i have accomplished is the Sway Bars..I think i did that correctly with the little tapered spacer..So any help with the rest of it would be greatly appreciated..

Slide the upper 4 link mount in the servo saver hole in the gearcase. Have the flat facing foward. You need to remove the front upper gearcase screw and nut. The second aluminum piece attachs to the upper mount with the counter sunk screw. The silver pan head screw replaces the front upper gearcase screw. Then use the long silver socket head screw to attach your upper 4 link bars to the upper 4 link mount. You will not use the long black screws.

Different truck, same style mount.

One on each side of the upper 4 link mount, between the rod end and the mount.

Where you upper 4 link mounts connect to the chassis, is there a conical between the chassis and the rod end and then one between the rod end and the lock nut?

Same things for where the lower 4 links go to the axle hub.

Yes there is one between the chassis and the rod end and another between the rod end and locknut...So is i do the same on the mount that would use up 4 of them..And then 4 for the other axle..So there wouldnt be any for the lower links when mounted to the axle hub...SO where should i use them ??

Also the rear steer lockouts dont seem to line up with the existing holes in the axle..The top hole lines up but the bottom holes only half way line up.

(corrected per Brett's direction)
On the upper 4 links to upper 4 link mount, use 4 conicals per mount.
screw head - conical - rod end - conical - upper 4 link mount - conical - rod end - conical - lock nut

Then use the other 4 on the lower link to axle. (like the upper 4 link to chassis)
C-hub - conical - rod end - conical - lock nut

Or sometimes on the lower link to axle I do this

C-Hub - lock nut - rod end - conical - locknut

This allows me to remove the axle from the truck without taking the wheels off.

HMM...I have 8 of them. So there isnt enough then for all the lower links..I would use 4 of them for the upper 4 links mounts..That leaves 4 for the lower links..So only one for each lower link ??

Any words of advice on the rear steer lockouts ??

The lower links only use one conical washer per end for a total of 8. You'd actually use a total of four washers on each of the upper 4-link mounts, in the same orientation as installed on the links where they mount to the chassis.

As far as the rear lockouts, the Clod axle only has a single hole in the upper axle tube drilled to begin with. If yours have a lower one already drilled, just re-drill that hole to line up with the holes on the lockouts. Our lockouts are aligned to the upper hole, and work as a template to place the lower hole if necessary.

Awesome !! Thanks guys the pictures help out alot !!

I used one of those conical washers on each sway bar end..So i guess i wasnt supposed to use one there then ?

I got the rear steer lockouts mounted in and noticed the upper screw isnt long enough to go thru the lockout bracket and back thru the hub and hold onto the original axle braces..Was there another screw provided to replace that or not ?

I apolize for all the questions. She is coming along tho and soon will be at home next to her sister the XC 1 ..:tmb

I've had a question about doing this sort of build up for a while, but these pics have brought up again: Where is the steering servo moved to in the setup, and is it possible to maintain the clods 4-wheel steering?

The stock servo location is gone, but the servos are relocated on the axles themselves. Our Terminator kit provides you with front steering only and a rear steer lockout, but there's no reason you couldn't use 4WS.

Top view showing chassis with front & rear servo mounts installed. They replace the stock Clod metal gearcase supports.

Seems to be quite a complicated build (although the normal clod nearly broke my will as it was, haha). Running 4ws in the Terminator raises more questions, but maybe I'm just not seeing how to get the radio signal from the transmitter to both servos and keep things moving in the proper direction. I feel so dumb :bang

The chassis and links actually arrive pre-assembled, you need to attach them to your axles.

As far as running dual servos, you can either use a servo reversing Y harness if you have a 2 channel radio or go with a 3 channel radio/receiver and plug the servos into two different channels on the receiver.

just remember... 4ws at high speed is very unstable. doesn't take a lot of rear steer to make a huge difference.

the servo harness and 2 channels works fine, but a 3 channel programmable radio will allow crab walking., and fine tuning of steering throw.
