New to the Ground Pounder

Major changes in the works for my GP in the next couple of weeks. Making up a set of EQR Monster Jam/Clodbuster wheels to mount a set of Rumble tires on my GP to make it look more a monster than a toy. Also have a 97 Bigfoot body coming that will turn my Groundpounder into Bigfoot! Also a Futaba receiver so I can use my new 4PL to bring back 4WS to my GP.

Goodies have arrived! Not all for the GP. MJ rear rims and Clod rims along with a 97 Bigfoot body are for the GP. Just need my tires to arrive. :) Oh yeah, and a Futaba receiver to get my 4WS back.

Bigfoot body trimmed and mounted. Can't wait to get it painted.

Stock Clod wheel on left. EQR Monster Jam/Clod wheel on right. Fit like a glove. Almost think they were made to do this. Thanks to WillG for his design and answering my questions.

All four rims are cut and ready for gluing. Just in time as these arrived today! Of course now I am thinking they should go on my Mod Clod and the stock Clod tires on my GP.

These are gorgeous tires!

Nice job getting the EQR wheels going!!

Do yourself a favor, drill (2) 1/4'' breather holes in them before putting tires on. I like to put them in the angle part of the MJ wheel. Helps keep bounce down.

Air holes in rims drilled. Tires mounted on rims. Foam makes them quite firm.

Pictures of the GP wearing its new shoes and body. Looking awesome even without paint. Clod rims and tires make the truck. She ain't a toy no more. Got so excited I forgot pictures of the rims. Oh, well they will come soon.

Overall the GP is about half a tire wider that my Clods. A little wider than I would really like but with the wider Bigfoot body on and the hunkered down look not only is she gonna be mean looking but should be less prone to flipping over when turning. I am bias but she is one sweet looking truck. May once again be my favorite.

Also got my second Futaba receiver installed in the GP and after a little frustration getting it to sync with my Castle ESC I am now a happy happy man. GP has its 4WS choices again. And I have to say I love the Futaba 4PL and how I can adjust every little detail on the settings to get both front and rear tracking nice and straight.

Just food for thought; the Parma 1/8 scale 2004 F150 body is wider and would erase some of the look of the extra width appearance from the tires. It is a bit long for a GP, so when I ran this body, I would cut the body in almost half; just in back of the cab. Leaving the cab/front end and the bed as two separate pieces. Then I'd choose how long the body needed to be, tape the bed and cab into position, and drill holes(2 per side), and bolt the body back together, and paint it. It worked well, and brought the fender wells closer width-wise out to the tires.

Decided it was warm enough today to paint. Blue is applied. Debating backing it with silver or black. Thinking silver as black might make it darker than I want.

OMG! I am so excited. Just finished putting the decals on the body. Sadly I fear the body may end up a shelf queen. I think I have nailed the stance and if I do say so myself this is one F'ing awesome looking truck.

Oh yeah, looking sweet!!!!

I think maybe you just need a blower scoop or carbs on the hood to break it up. Maybe something off a muscle machines car.

You have a ROM worthy entry there for sure.

Such a beautiful day today and I actually remember to take the camera for some ground shots. Still got a few details I want to get done like a sponsor decal area on the lower chassis then I will enter this truck in a ROM.

Looks fantastic!!!!!
I am definitely in need of a new body for mine. I destroyed 2 bodies this past week, lol, lots of backyard racing with my two oldest boys, trying to show off too much comes at a cost I guess.

Great work on yours, How heavy is that tire set up you have? I have some huge Losi Raminator tires on mine and they are extremely heavy.

Tire/rim combo is definitely heavier that the stock setup but so far seems to work pretty well. I am trying to go easy on the GP until I can get Hesse axle braces but they seem to be hard to come by. Also looking at the trans/motor brace as well. Also found at work the next part for added realism. Hoping to get that done and mounted tonight. ;)
