I'm going to be looking to do clod tires and rims. I really like the scale look! But a I also like the look of the Stable maxx wheels and jumbo maxx chevron tires. I have read alot on here about putting clod rims on a GP. The rim in a rim sounds good but I really need to know, what 2.2" wheel from traxxas is needed for this mod? Stampede fronts or rears? I will want steering knuckle clearence but I want the track width to look natural, not overly wide. I'm also keeping in mind about racing this truck in October. Which tire wheel setup would be better? BTW, The truck should be here tomorrow!

Just picked up a Dynamite 3800KV brushless system for my GP, some paint and some deans connectors today. I also ordered a 97 bigfoot body. I have alot of work ahead of me now!

Thanks Jason! I have had a chance to run this truck in the house a little and 1 thing I noticed is that the tires rub on the stock shocks at full lock. I have the HPI MT2 rear shocks coming, they will be in this week. I know this will help but is there a way to space out the wheels on the axle enough to stop this? Or is the dual rate adjustment on this radio the only way to keep this from happening? Let me know! Yes the stock radio glitches like crazy!

I just used the dual rate on mine to stop the rubbing. The radios on both of our trucks work 99% glitch free, with the rare glitch on the rear steering on one of the trucks. Perhaps a short piece of anttena tube might help you out. they forgot ours too. Both our transmitters have alkaline batterys instead of nimh 1.5volts vs 1.2 volts for the nimh. Might make a difference

I'm hoping that the smaller shocks will be able to let me get almost full lock for steering. When the truck was powered up with the antenna up the servos were glitching, and I did bind the TX to the RX. So rear steer lock out also is coming and I changed my radio to the Flysky FS GT3B radio.......no glitches!

I love that way that Hesse trans/motor mount looks...He makes sum custom GP knuckles that will clear Clod wheels and not have to use wideners.

I put Stablemaxx wheels on mine and it makes the width alot better, you can use almost any 3.2 tire on those too, Imex tires, emaxx vtread tire..etc.

I do have that he maxx 14 millimeter wheel hexs and pins for them however I have noticed that the wheel pins are half a millimeter larger than the stock pins. Is the answer to drill the holes that much larger?

Well.......I got a chance to drive the GP this weekend. I absolutley had a blast! New metal driveshafs and 168 oz at .09 sec Savox digital steering servo installed. I have to say the truck is very quick and handles surprisingly well! The only adjustments I made further were, tune out most of reverse, turn braking down, and adjust steering EPA. Metal gear to gear noise is there kind of annoying but no stripped gears. Im waiting on Mike Hesse axle braces and if he still makes the aluminum hubs. Hi Voltage championships here I come ! Look out Wheely King!
