Savage 21.
No pics when I first got it but this thing was mint. The prior owner claimed 3-4 runs on it and I belive it. only a few tiny scuffs on the body and tires barely scuffed, the rest looked brand spankin new.
Anyhow, after the first 3 tanks I ran, I blew 3 of the 4 hexes outa the wheels. The one wheel got so hot from the hex spinning it litereally melted the wheel and it just fell off while the wheel nut was still on the axle
So I got the HPI 17mm hex conversion that comes with axle stub shafts and all and tossed them on with some proline velocity wheels and the original tires. I died the rims green but they came out darker than I had wanted. I was going for a lime green (think grave digger green) but ended up leaving them in too long and got army green.
But thats Ok cause I wanted to go military themed on one of my trucks, just it's now gonna be the savage
I've also had to upgrade the tank mounts cause the stock plastic broke on the first run so I ordered HPI aluminum fuel tank mounts. i then added an RPM center skid and the fuel lines were dried out and had some holes so I replaced them with some nifty purple ones. Otherwise it's completely stock, for now.
Oh ya, I also added a full roll cage. but I need to pull it off and straighten it. It's mangled already
I think I need to reinforce the mouting brackets somehow.
But right now, the truck is sitting yet again. I've only ran about 5 tanks in it so far. the other nite I was running it only the second time since I got the wheels and hexes done and smoked the slipper clutch, literally. I was smoking so bad I thought the truck actually caught on fire. I couldn't even see anything from the trans back
It seems this truck is just plagued with small probs. Could be why the prior owner sold it
