New Tlt Project

Wow! Last post was from three years ago already! I started this project 4 years ago right when I started uni, now I am already graduating in a month:laugh

After seeing John's Gravedigger post, it reminded me of this truck that have been sitting in my display case for several years already. I gave it a run a few years back, but it was only with a weak micro battery pack and it barely moved considering the motor is a 13T. So I decided to rebuild it so I can finally call this truck "finished". I made a 4-cell pack out of matched GP3700's and mount them in the front compartment. I tried to mount them on the rear axle because of the weight, but it just didn't fit. The alloy GPM shocks were too weak to support the added weight so I needed to replace them with something stronger. The original eye-to-eye length for the shocks are 90mm, but I could only find a set of MGT shocks which are a bit longer. I figured I'd try them anyways and man they are awesome shocks! However, the fake reservoirs on them gets in the way of the spur gear so I still need to find another replacement.

Last night, I charged up the pack and gave it a test run. NOW! I can finally say it is a runner! The speed is not super fast, but considering the weight of this beast and it being only on 4-cell, it is just what I expected. Any faster and I'd be rolling over and scratching up the frame.

-was that in RCCA Reader's Rides? Built by John Boyer? It has been a long time, scarey how fast the years roll by, neat lil' rig:tmb, I'd stretch it out to 10.5"-11.0" WB, & get a 97' Bigfoot body on it, (I do all my stuff in 1/10th)

Yup it was in the RCCA Reader's Ride a looong time ago and yes it was built by John. The frame is built around the stock body so I will keep it around this size. I am thinking about getting a set of wild willy wheels for it and then stretching it a bit to compensate for the increased wheel size.
