New Tlt Project

Thanks Will. But it actually has some tread patterns on it, I think the tire is used in drag racing. I just wanted this project to be unique, gotta get rid of those stock tires. Now I have to collect 3 more tires.:wnk

I don't know if they still make that brand, but yes it is a drag tire

There was a guy on e-pay selling some nascar like tires about the same size w/ goodyear I think on them

Hoosier, and Mickey Thompson are popular slick/drag tires too. MT's or Mickey Thompson tires are SUPER grippy, I had a friend with some on his street racer camaro.

I think a long time ago, a company came out with the Good Year foam tires for various scales. I remember seeing a set about 2 years back at a hobby shop sale. Should of bought them since I knew after that they fit the clodbusters. It would of looked sweet to shave them down and put it on my TLT now.:drool

Last update for the holidays.:-(

I cut a few more pieces tonight. This is just a mockup picture, the finished one will be more "3D" with the cage part extending out the chassis a bit more. I just don't have the time to make the chassis posts yet. Also I need to design the rear part of the "frame" too.

Oh man! Just checked out InetRC's website. The alloy TLT axle housings are only $99 each! Hmmmm...now I gotta think hard if I want these or a wheely king:willy

They look a little different than the stock housings though, but in a COOL way. Hope all the holes are in the stock positions though.:drool

the 2.2 foam version was made on monsterbeetle gold crome wheels, so still not much help there

I believe CRP made them

May I have some opinions on what bumpers I should go with please? I've look at them for a while and can't really decide.

1. GPM alloy bumpers F/R with New Era alloy wheelie bar (all silver)
2. Junfac heavy duty steering links F/R sprayed metallic purple

I've look at some 1:1 MT pics and noticed they don't have any bumpers either. Just the steering links. That's what led me to option #2. Also it is the cheapest and can add some purple accents in as well. Option #1 is a lot of bling, but hard to find too.

the Junfaq skid is great, and it'll fit both the tlt and high lift axles

and those tlt junfaq mounts look good on a truck, though not needed they do look cool

Those junfac mounts do look really sweet. But my TLT suspension wise is set up identical to stock, so I think those mounts won't work on it. I think I am just going to go ahead and get the New Era wheelie bar and stick to the stock bumpers. I've been eyeing the wheelie bar for a while. I have some small bits coming from InetRC too.:tmb

Nope, I am still waiting on some bits from Inet and LiquidRC.:tmb

How about you? Any new projects?

Decided not to use the race tires, it just doesn't have the monster truck look with them on. So I am going back to stock tires. Maybe I will order a set of alloy wheels later. I am deciding between silver or black wheels.

Also I am some bits from InetRC, as usual top grade parts! I LOVE the knockoffs, I will order some more in the future for my other projects. Then there's the alloy servo plate in the rear. The front one is from GPM. Although they look very similar, the one from Inet has a much better finish 8) Also, got a New Era Models wheelie bar from LiquidRC, 99 cents shipping!

Now that I look at the pics again, the reflection in the wheels from the knockoffs is sooo pretty! Absolutely LOVE them! :D

I sent an email to Joe Ford of Castle Creations on this forum to see if I could get a Mamba Max done in purple. If not, I guess I will have to go with a Lehner 4200.:willy
