Well....it's been about 4 years since I sold off my old, 80's Clod, thanks to lurking on this website I got the itch again and had to order myself a new Super Clobuster kit. :cool Just waiting on it to come from Stormer, not sure what I'm gonna do build wise right now, probably mostly box stock with some steering upgrades so it will atleast steer better.

LoL....when I was younger I would have had it built on the floor of my bedroom before the day was done! :D

I'm waiting for my bearing kit to come, ordered som rubber sealed bearings from Boca Bearings here in Florida. Still trying to figure out if I want to do a box art build or do a 1980's Samson I or Bear Foot build.

Well.....not much to update, but it's a start. Got the Boca bearings in the mail and started the build while I had some time this afternoon. I decided to build a box stock build with this, just for nostalgic reasons. I had a orogonal Clod back in the day, also had a Original Bullhead when they were first released. I'm thinking I may pick up a Bullhead when I'm done with this Clod.

My biggest dilema was the steering because I know the stock steering sucks bad. For now I just stuck a Futaba S3305 in it that I had laying around. I was gonna use a Savox SC-1256TG servo that I have, it has 277 oz of torque, but I think that would be a waste, unless I lock the stock servo savers or replace them with something aftermarket.

Thanks! I was originally thinking about doing a retro Bear Foot theme, but I think on this one I'm going to do a box art build. Haven't made up my mind 100% yet.

I was thinking box art on this one then get another kit to do a more customized build.

Finally got a little time and motiviation to work on the body. I have a little sanding and body work to do then it will be ready for paint. Got it covered with 2 coats of snadable primer for starters. I've decided to go with a GM dark blue metallic for the color. :cool

All in all the body isn't too bad, just sanding off some molding lines, had to do a little filler on the hood because the mounting bosses molded underneath left some "X" shaped divets in the hood.

Well I'm managing to make a little more progress here and there on the Super Clod. After I primered and did a little body work, I sanded it down lightly with 600 grit, then I painted the body a nice GM Dark Blue Metallic paint with Duplicolor automotive Laquer, 3 coats of paint and then 3 coats of clear. All in all the paint job came out pretty decent I think. My cell phone pics dont do it justice, once I'm done I'll take some outside pics with the digtal camera.

I'm working on the decals now, did I mention I HATE trying to put on big decals!!! :p
