New pics of the Bennett, now with a body

Only started tuesday, masked it off tuesday and got some color on. Finished paint and decals last nite, cut out the windows tonite.

I cheated a lil though, used premade paint masks for the flames and stripes around the flames, and used some vinyl letters from the mail box section at the hardware store as masks for the "Bennett clod" on the sides. Its going to be used and abused so I didn't want to spend alot of time on it.

I know I'm a noob here, but it looks good to me! Too much work on the paint job and you get afraid of flipping it, and why have a truck that never gets upside down?

Thanks! Ya, i've done some fany paint jobs already and they take time and ya don't want to run em. Like my mustang, that has yet to be run Lol But this is the faciest one I've done for a runner but it was quick and easy.

looking good, you should make a bed cover to cover up the nitro cutouts, other then that it looks good!:tmb

What flames and outline did you use? they look awesome! And doesnt cutting the windows out lessen the strength of the body?

Nope. Only adds to the scale realism cause real monsters are that way. :tmb (plus the back window cut out makes for a nice handle to carry the truck with. Didn't find that out till afterwards though Lol)

Definitely in the plans. I am either just going to paint the out side or cut another piece of lexan to paint to sit down in the bed to cover it. Also thought about velcro'ing it over top the body posts flush with the top of the bedsides.

Here is the link to it on Parma's site. I got mine at the LHS. Originally bought it for the F100

You would normally think that cutting the windows out in such a manner would lessen the strength of the body, and in bodies like TC's it does. But this Proline is .060 lexan (thick stuff) and even with the windows cut out, I can not crush the roof of the cab down at all by hand. :tmb

I usually like to do my own flames, but I didn't feel like spending the time on them plus like I said I had the mask laying there so I used it.

Here is a few of my hand laid flames. Click for larger

(the High Lift is not mine but I did paint it. The Owner is Jugg2Driver who owns Scale4x4rc

It came with chrome ones. But they have foams in the which makes it really bouncy and heavy. There is a huge weight differance with and with out the foams. The tires are glued so I can't realy remove them. I will probably try eventually.

i also run the blue ofna foams in a set of tires i have. work great not real bouncy just like rampagin said.

i have always found running foams causes too much traction roll. you notcie the tire will not "give" as much in a turn and the insert will slide side to side like a doughnut over the rim, inside the tire and the truck will become a little more unpreditctable. mind you this is on carpet. for overall bashing and jumping foams are alot better suited they just never worked for me in my race trucks. its more personal preference, so if you can experiment with the 2 styles then go for it.

I tried it once without foams ... just feels weird because of the excessive amount of tire side wall roll (... plus I hate having my rims grinding or cracked on the pavement ... foam definitely helps).

I don't know whats in them but the wieght is my bigger concern. One of the chrome ones with the foam in it weighs nearly as much at 2 plain ones with no foams.
