well here it is, the links are too short for the chassis but its rolling:D

i ordered the 16" WB kit from CPE and i have some extended upper links from another member on here. im going to have to mix and match to get my proper wheelbase.

im running stampede front shocks all the way around on mine with stock TXT lower links with
Long Wheelbase (14 inch) uppers from New Era
i would try a shorter shocks as a mock up with the longer links you have for the uppers

TXT-the overall wheelbase is too short to mount the shocks to the axle braces. i have the rc4wd shock mounts so i need the 16" WB kit the way it looks right now. once i get them in along with the other jugg links i will see which will work the best for my setup.

more pics to come once i get everything in the mail. i dont like how it sits now, i just wanted to make a roller to see how it would look with wheels and tires.

Try swapping the bottom & top links if there is a notable difference in length between the two. I know on mine figuring that out was a PITA. New Era also thas brackets that look like a T for the lower shock mounts that may help as well. as far as sitting high that is just how the new era's are. I have played around with moving the shock mounts up to lower it but then that causes more problems.

all the links on the truck are the same, it is not a claw setup. the new era chassis mounting points are all at the same area so you need the exact same length arms.

I found that my uppers had to be 6in eye to eye vs the bottoms are 5 1/2 .

Now that is on txt axles vs clods but the from looking at your upper mount your using it may be a close fit
My truck has a 13 in wb on this setup

I can measure the links we made on my cousin's truck for you Kevin. It doesn't sit high by any stretch and its a decent performer...

The links on my New Era Clod had to be longer on top than on bottom, so that the the axles sat level. If they are too long or short, the axle tips up or down. If I remember right I had to extend the top links a 1/2 inch or better for everything to sit level.

I would agree. Your shock mount is on top of the axle brace and you could run a shorter shock. I would say a 1/2 inch shorter.

Measure form the center of your upper 4-link mount on the gear case to the center of the axle tube to find the difference in the length of the links you will need from the top to the bottom.

I also mounted the bottom 4-link bar to the top of the axle C to keep the bottom links parallel with the top links. Sometime you cannot do this though depending on the type of steering set-up you plan on running. With as close as the mounts are on the chassis I would opt for the upper mounting position IMHO and choose a steering bracket that allows for a parallel 4-link.

Just a suggestion to consider. Hope it helps. Best of luck with the build Kevin. :)

well here it is! 16" CPE link kit worked great.

now i need to mount the CPE vertical steering servo mount and futaba metal gear servo. going to install a new xl5 esc and silver cans with some stocker pinions. im still unsure of the wheels and tires but for now they work. also ordered a new receiver traxxas link system, really excited :)

any suggestions? ideas?

If you want high, you are spot on Kevin. Wheelbase looks nice too. :)
But I have to say I think a bit lower would be better, less prone to roll with the heavy chassis up so high. But that's just me.

just from experience a long shock will bend the shafts very easily with the weight of the truck... your left front is already bent slightly .. if you could kick out your lower mount that may help also like this / \
since i went to a pede/slash front shock i haven't had any issues

like Bill said the height is an issue with these chassis (very top heavy)and roll overs are very easy with the susp set like it is

glad you got your links straighten out :cool

good eye, looked back and you are right, shaft looks bent
Also, a conical washer, between the lower shock eye and the axle mount so the shock won't bind

Move the lower shock mount towards the wheel on the long brace. Your distance between the c-hub and the lower shock mount are not the same the way you have it. Many people make the same mistake with the ESP mounts too.

i just noticed! thats funky, going to move them out one space to make them correct. thanks for the heads up!

will/txt-i like the ride height for now, i may lower it with some tower hobbies shocks later on but for now i just want to get it running. its really stiff with the tmaxx shocks so i dont know how soft of a spring im going to have to go to but ill figure it out i guess with some shock oils...

also, what type of body is suppose to fit over this? i tried a 14" WB body i have here and it seems half the chassis sticks out the bottom...

i like what you did with the link arms,a true 4 link being parrallel, how does it handle though? seems it might be more stable on the bottom axle tube mounts? ..cool never the less, great thread!!
