Decided to do a post on my New Era chassis...most of you have seen it before with the Jugg setup..

but I decided to change it to a Clod axle setup instead to drop sum weight..I actually like it better this way..

I disassembled the truck and repainted the chassis again (I will powdercoat when I have the extra money)...now im gonna tweak with sum setups while I wait on my custom body to come in from Darkside Designs... Its using the HR 120mm shocks w/oil and a nice chunk of rubber inside to help with the cushioning...it works well so far and gives in a nice scale look...

I donated the black and red wheels and tires to another project and im using shaved tires that I got from my good friend in Hawaii on this truck with all black wheels

Let me know wat you all think...Lots of plans for the truck...Brushless, 4ws, replica motor maybe??? lol :cool

looks like he only had an XL5 in it from the picture.
Looks good as a clod, did you weigh it to see the actual difference in running gear??

Thanks guys!

@Blue ...yea only an XL5 in there it handles those 15t firebolts well..I used this setup in 2 different trucks and it seems to do fine and I planned on using them for another project and upgrading to VXL brushless or at least an EVX2 with a 3s lipo in this truck..

@Will ...I didnt get a chance to weigh it before I made the change but I did do sum bicep curls with the old truck and this 1 lol....HUGE difference! I actually test dropped it from about 4 ft in the air before I ran it and it was fine when I ran it over sum test jumps..

I really havent decided whether im going to go brushless in this truck not but if I do i was thinking Traxxas VXL or EZruns...I also thought about doin 4ws and carbon fiber links all the way around

still waiting on the body :cool

14 is to long IMO.... mine are right at 13.5 besides bodies will look off with that wb...

also i cut the cross members just inside the back and front of the chassis to allow full suspension travel , the frame is strong enough to allow for it

ill get some pics tonight for you

looking good so far Gavyn :)

Those wideners could be either Tweaked or JJ's
and I too think 14 is too long for the available bodies, 13 is perfect

Thanks Tom, Will

I was wondering if you could cut those cross members to allow for more travel..definitely send pics thanks..what did you use to cut it?

After looking at your chassis pictures again I see since it was for a TXT there needs to be a support or 2 way down at the bottom by your lower links from side to side. You don't want a crash to bend a side in or out so a few braces will be in order.

just a reference Gavyn , the Summit truck is 12 1/4 wb Army is 13.5 so you can see how the bodies will fit .... 14 inch will not fit the wheel wells right

@Will...I just noticed that too so I will add sum braces to the bottom

@Tom... Im going to cut those to braces when I take it apart again to powdercoat the chassis...and your right Im going to leave the WB as it is when I put a body on it, it looked good

Hopefully Ill get the body and motors soon but it is coming along good

made a few changes....im gonna setup this truck for 4WS so I got rid of the steering setup I had and the Rear lockout..gonna use 2 of these for my new setup... http://www.ebay.com/itm/180738732432?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 these setup as a vertical servo mount like the 1 i have on there now just much lighter and stronger..

I'm switching to 120mm threaded spring shocks too after i cut a couple of cross braces to allow for full suspension travel TXT-2.0 showed me how to do that... then I just need to order new carbon fiber 4-links and steering links from CPE

Also traded out those wheels and tires (now on my Rage Race truck)....and Im using those ofna monster blazer tires that were on my stock clodbuster I got...they give it a really good look and are soft too...still waiting on the body and a few things before my next update...I will get a few pics of where it stand now after a few changes...

Anyone have any advice on motors and ESCs....I wanted to go brushless and use those EZruns in 6000kv but someone told me they wouldnt have enough torque to move that heavy chassis...so I thought about going with the EZrun 4000kv but not sure if that will give me enough speed...I could always use dual VXLs too, since Im not using a BTA they should fit nicely...what do yall think?????
