New Build!

Alright so ive always wanted to do a build up thread, however im terrible at stopping and taking pictures so all my other attempts have fallen through. Try not to laugh at my poor effort =D

My focal point on this truck is to be an experimental one, one in which I try new and different products on this truck to see how they work.

Anyway to what I have thus far

I bought a brand new ZRP diablo kit from Jon Zyck. These things are killer I love them!. I decided to build this truck with a short wheel base configuration seeing as my other trucks all run the long wheelbase. So after a long day of work I finished putting the chassis together with massive help from my "little guys" (this was completed in early november)

I also decided to try out the proline power stroke shocks (front short course ones) (also completed in november)

Today I decided to start work on the gearcases. As normal I used integy alluminum axle tubes but also got to use a set of the Hesse derlin rear axle tubes(first set) that I received via a trade with a fellow member. I also decided to contact Avid RC to see if they could put together a set of 24 bearings for the clod(I know there is other sets out there but I wanted to try a new bearing company), they kindly obliged and created this for us clod guys http://www.avidrc.com/flexkit/?kit=801&kitname=Clodbuster+(2+Axles) . I ordered my bearings separate because I needed 3 different types of bearings, to my my surprise instead of just coming in separate bags they also came with a nifty little tube with a snap top. I found this really great since im always losing the smaller bearings, (my package also came with a set of decals!). Then came the servo mount installation, though forewarned by Jon that his newer BTA steering mount wouldn't work with aluminium axle tubes I decided I'd use it anyway. With a little dremel grinding and some filling to clean it up it cleared and line up perfectly!

Shout out to Screw Loose Hardware! All the hardware in these axles came from him! Check him out, his prices are awesome, not to mention the customer support is top notch.
Each Gear case is running stock gears with TTR cvds.

I have it in the long wheel base format, however with where the sway bars are I can switch to short in a jiffy. I figured since my other trucks all run the 'long' format I should start there since thats where my experience is.

That will be nice for quick adjustability. I want to see it with short - seems most ZRP are long for racing. Post a pic if you go short. :D

I think I pay more attention to what the lego guys are doing then the build. Keep up the good work!

Yup Kris at darkside designs did an awesome job creating this body! It means a lot to me since this was given to me as a prize for being the most improved racer from last season in the Michigan Monsters of RC.

Part one of two came today! Feels just like my dx3c but with a bigger screen! Not to mention a MOA mixing setting after the update (woot!)(great for those pesty sv2's)(not to mention the lack of a y harness!). Backlight is awesome as well! I decided to get the package that comes with two sr410 receivers, which retail for 60 bucks each. Hope to have most of my trucks switched to this radio by the spring nationals, till then ill keep rocking my 3c!
