Well HPI says the tires on this thing are 5.4" so I'm not worried about it being to small :)

Very interesting, should be a great truck to mod up, especially with the availability of replacement parts.

Well with the detailed pics they now have the front and rear axle housings look identical so I'm almost sure you could use rear axle replacement internals in the front to make it 4x4. Only other thing would be the trans, I don't know if there is an output for the front drive.

Wonder what the price is gonna be.

i'm definately geting one before it's discontinued
Laugh if you want, but I bought the RS4MT? Not a lot of solid axle guy compared to indy, and HPI seems pretty quick about axeing what doesn't move. So I think I'll get 2. I can't wait until an anodized aluminum aftermarket chassis is available, which will be in no time. First theing is I'm switching out the 48P spur and pinion for 43P gears.

Does anyone know the release date for this? it might be really cool for the MJ race! Maybe start up a class for these, only problem I see is we would need to do our own bodies so they dont all look the same :rof

I am thinking you can definitely buy interinals and put them in the front axle, another scale project maybe...hmmmm :p

the 2wd is probably a gimmik like the sportmaxx, where a 4wd is optional and therefore they make more $$...

^ True. After the owner got bored doing all day wheelies and not getting any steering (lol), He will soon put the 4wd convertion and do some rock crawling.

I can see it now, they will release it: Wheelie King X 4wd edition KIT.

I want a 2wd version. And a 4WD version LOL I want a 2WD version for blasting around doing burnouts like I would with a Stampede (and I think these are the same size as a Stampede but with bigger tires).

Then I want a 4WD for realistic MJ action!

HPI lists the size as:

LENGTH: 431.8mm
WIDTH: 297.2mm
HEIGHT: 254mm
WHEELBASE: 238.8mm
TIRES: 135mm x 69mm
SUSPENSION TRAVEL: 152.4mm

If I convert that right:

LENGTH: 17"
WIDTH: 11.7"
HEIGHT: 10"
WHEELBASE: 9.4"
TIRES: 5.3" x 2.7"
SUSPENSION TRAVEL: 6"

Did HPI make a mistake? Or is the wheelbase 9.4" and the overall lenght 17"??? 17" seems really long if the wheelbase is 9.4".

that sounds right by the look of it. Rememer those are overlall dimensions. So the 17" is from the front edge of the front tires to the rear tip of the wheelie bar. wheelbase is front wheel center to rear wheel center. Lookin at this pic the wheelbase is a lil more than half the overall length.

OK so this thing isn't that small at all. On the HPI site they say it's 1:12, smaller than the 1:10 ESavage, but it seems to be inline with Stampede size...

Here is Stampede XL5 RTR dimensions:

Length: 16.25"
Width: 13"
Height: 9.5"
Wheelbase: 10.75"
Tires: 2.8" x 5"

So it's about the same size as a Stampded with bigger tires...

If you click on "option parts" on the Wheel King page, it looks like the wheels are 2.2" and all 12mm 2.2s fit :) No 4WD kit on the option page though :(

Under $200 and I'm stoked! So $189 is great news to me! Plus like you said, Tower sometimes/usually lowered the price once they are in stock plus tower always has like $20 off a $150 order so these are priced to move!

Stampede is $179 so this is only $10 more...
