not a bad deal, two for one :tmb

The caged one, how long is that wheelbase? I think it would be pretty cool if you could shorten it by almost an inch each end. Or is it that way for performance only reasons?

its at about 14in. thats where it was when i got it. havent done much with it yet, besides make sure it all works. i thought about shortening it a little.

I've seen the yellow tuber before... I think it was hojin that had it.

I can vouch for the stocking up for multiple vehicles.
I have like 10 now, no money and bags n boxes of various parts from this one and that one. It's definitely out of control.

Out of all of mine... I think my WK actually gets more use. It's not as fast, doesn't jump or crawl as well as my other vehicles but I have the most fun driving it. I have a few friends that think I'm crazy for talking about selling one of my bigger/faster RC's instead of it but I don't see myself ever selling it.

Nice pair of Kings you have there. If I'm not mistaken, the yellow caged one is from New Era Hobbies. I've always liked that tuber. The stock bodied one looks to be 4-linked with some other goodies as well. My original WK has been through alot, running and abuse wise. It's now slowly turning into more of a trail truck (pede rear rims all around, Mudslingers, lowered) but they're definately fun trucks no matter how you mod them.
Enjoy!

Troy.

well changed the motor and esc in the truck to a LRP AI and a Reedy 17t motor(thanks william). i like the way it runs now. only problem is cant turn to fast or on its lid it goes. but oh well. also changed the tires on the tuber from the moabs to a set of cut slingers

Yeah, with WK's ya have to slow down a little before you make a tight turn.
I had some axle wideners on mine for a bit, it helped but I'd still manage to roll it on occasion.
Basically have to adjust your driving to keep it on all fours.

The truck looks a little stretched (not much) and doesn't have the wheelie bar.. does it still get the front tires off the ground?

My WK has gone the way of a scale-ish trail/mud truck. You may have seen it around the site, I managed to win ROTM a few times :).
I pretty much swapped out and upgraded everything I could without going to alloy tvp's and axles.
I sometimes miss what it was like stock-sized but I'm happy with how it's turned out. Definitely on the top of my list of favorite trucks.

it pulls one wheel up from torque twist. i need to get some wideners. i also need to put a locker in the rear. it has one in the front. its gonna be one of my funner trucks i think.

I'm pretty sure the axles are the same so you could probably just swap them and have a locked rear. If you lock both axles the turning radius is gonna be pretty big but it would come in handy on occasion. I only have my rear axle locked. The turning radius suffered a little and sometimes one wheel gets stuck while the other spins but then I just back up and try from a different angle and/or more speed and that usually works.

The WK gets torque twist when you remove the stock rear links with the X brace. You could try to make a new brace but it won't be as flexible. You could try thicker shock oil in the opposite corner from the wheel that's lifting (left front tire?), or a stiffer spring. AX10 springs are the same diameter as WK springs, just a little longer. Which may help out along with the options of different spring rates.

I got some stiff black springs from WillG for some mystery shock. They're a little bigger than the WK cups but I just twisted the bottom smaller to fit. Still get a little bit of torque twist, especially when the truck gets bound up a little getting through or over an obstacle.

I have a set of STRC axle wideners I could sell ya... $15 shipped
I didn't have them on my truck all that long and they're in great condition.

" Total of 20mm+ in width. The axles are high heat treated for superior durability and the anodized aluminum sleeves further enhances the durability and adds great looks as well. "

...so like 10mm each wheel.

i have a question about gearing. if you want speed how should the pinion and spur be. big spur little pinion? or other way around.

I have a Great Planes S-600 19t motor in mine and recently tried some new pinions with the stock spur. For a while I was running a 24t pinion which was the smallest I could run with this bigger motor without modding the mounting plate. It had tons of torque but not much speed. I tried a 28t pinion which was an improvement but not quite the top end I was looking for. I found that in a 31t pinion. It still has enough torque to drive up a wall but there was a point where it almost didn't want to. I may find happiness in a 29 or 30 tooth, but without much funds I may settle on the 28t if the 31 proves to not have the torque needed to get over or through an obstacle.

I'm pretty much suck at gearing and I don't have any spur gears that'll fit the WK, all I had was pinions to play with. I've read some people switching to 32p gears (I think). The angle of the teeth hold up better or something. As far as I know a larger pinion will increase top end but decrease torque. So I'm sure that going with a smaller spur will do about the same but may affect the truck differently than changing a pinion. Logically, the other way around (small pinion, large spur) will increase torque but decrease speed.

There are gearing ratio charts and calculators available online, I'm just not sure where to find them (try google).

I'm definitely no gear guru and I'm sorry if I didn't answer your question exactly and ate up post space. It may be beneficial to start a new thread with a title that will get proper attention. You could always shoot WillG a PM... the guy knows friggin everything.

It's up to you, but it would look better if the front lost some length at least. Don't see to many trucks with the wheels infront of the bumper. :willy

I don't know how you have the body mounted, but you might be able to just move the links chassis position to get it shorter then slide the body around till it looks better.

If you can't do that, a shorter set of links, or cut those. What or how are those links made? If it's a sleeves rod that easy, a threaded solid link you can drill the hole deeper, cut, then retap. Use plenty of lubricant. Even some old shock oil will do. :)
