I would just cut the stops off the knuckles. You don't need to trim them both and the tubes are more of a weak point than the knuckles are.

Once you do that, you can also shave a little off the inner edge of the knuckle as you'll see where it now contacts the surface of the axle tube. Don't have a good picture of it, but someone else here might for you.

Thanks guys. No need for pics. I just trimmed off the bump stops on the knuckles and that got me a bunch more. Now I have enough steering that my tires rub the lower links. Next step.......wideners.

I failed to mention before that I was running a solid servo horn. I threw it on and forgot about it because I was just so excited to drive the truck. It not only was a solid horn, but it had the wrong spline for the servo. Of course that started acting like a stripped servo gear. I picked up a good server saver this week and put that on. I am alot happier with the steering now and can't wait to get some wheel spacers for it.

I did also get to run it outside the other day. All the snow has melted and the yard dried up. (I'm not much of a winter person and didn't want to moisture proof the truck). The stock motors are a little less fun outside. I had a couple Reedy Ti 12x2's laying around so I threw them in. The truck is a blast to drive but I'm not much of a basher. I need to start working on my "arena" setup so I can play Monster Jam style. Then get some more guys with trucks. If I build it, they will come.

Update:

I got the CPE wheel wideners and I have plenty of steering now. If I need any more I will look into adding rear steering. The 12t doubles are still in the truck and I actually don't drive it too much as I've been busy with racing my big car this summer.

I've slowly been compiling things to set up a arena style course. So far I've started by getting old Touring Car bodies that I'm filling partially with foam, and some strong cardboard tubes that I've cut for turn pylons. I'm covering them with vinyl and cutting some stickers for them. I'm also working on a second truck for myself to play with but I know if a few people that would be willing to bring out their old clods once I get a track up.

I'll post more recent pics of my truck soon.

Here is a current pic of my Gecko.

Not much has changed except for the CPE wideners. I'm thinking that a body is the next step. Then this will be my 4ws truck. I did start on my second truck so that is getting most my attention now. That build will be in a separate thread.

I actually still have my "test" chassis plates on because they haven't broken yet. They could be cleaned up and look alot better.

Well, my opinion might not be worth that much. It's the first clod I've driven in years and back then it was a completely stock one. So needless to say, I love it. I do want to add sway bars some how to try and stabilize it a little.

With the clod budget I'm on, I'll try anything. I have under $100 into this truck as a roller.

Update! All that has changed is the Body. I'm thinking of some graphics or a name of some sort for it. Then paint the wheels.

Thanks. I haven't really besides finally putting a lid on it that I like. I bashed around with it a bunch this summer with my Daughter and haven't really found a need to make the custom chassis plates any stronger. The only thing that I've done is replaced the old used hardware as it falls off with new stuff. :tmb

Swapped out the mismatched motors I had in it for a couple Reedy 11x2's. Fired it up for the first time in months just to play in the house and "crush" some throw pillows in the living room. Clods are too much fun!
