motor spray alternative

Just wondering if anyone uses something else to clean electric motors?

rubbing alcohol sounds like a very good idea, dries fast and I dont think it'll leave any residue.

I use the non chlorinated brake cleaner from auto stores, cheap.

I've used a variety of brake cleaners, electrical contact cleaners (No Flash brand) or sometimes whatever is handy. One thing to keep in mind is that some solvent-based sprays will damage the plastic parts, epoxies, and the insulation on the windings. The cheaper brands of r/c motor sprays sometimes leave an oily residue, and the better ones are pretty overpriced, IMHO. Beware!
