I was going to open a thread for this, but you beat me to it! Since it's here, I will post my thoughts from it as I did last year.
I drive 3 hours from Springfield to go to this show because as others say, it is an awesome show, I've even heard that it's in the top 3 to go to. The Dome is always cool to be in and to see. We to St. Louis early enough to mess around before the pit party started at 2, so it was cool not to rush. There were a lot more people there for the 2:00 open than it seemed to be last year. Pit party was awesome, definitely busy, the trucks were staged in good areas (in my opinion.) Got to see the track layout, and I was impressed with the Jersy(ish) style setup. The usage of orange and purple paint was nice.
Honestly, for the year I haven't really been keeping up on shows, or the points series, so I had to get caught up on that real quick so I understood what was going on. It's a cool concept, though I think the execution could be better, the whole "winner of last weeks freestyle HAS to go first" thing confuses me, why can't they choose their slot in freestyle being the "winner..." Anyhow, the quads were fun to watch, on to qualifying. The track....why did no one put sand on the turns? Three rollovers in QUALIFYING...that's not supposed to happen, I don't even remember if Madusa made it to actual racing. It seemed as though qualifying was sort of rushed, probably because the rollovers held it up a little bit, but oh well. Racing was good, more rollovers, but it was fun to watch, Neil won, so congrats to him on that, Steven over-corrected Hooked and ended up rolling and breaking his front right tire off, they took his truck back and they got it fixed really quickly for freestyle. Freestyle was AWESOME, all trucks performed except Madusa, I guess they didn't get her truck fixed for it. The lineup for this show was great, Pauken in Grave Digger, Neil in Max-D, Titan, Bad News, Hooked, Stone Crusher, Thunder 4x4, Madusa, Avenger, Wrecking Crew, Bari in Zombie, Monster Energy, El Toro, War Wizard, Crusader, Monster Mutt...very solid, and several Indies. I was excited to see Titan and Hooked most of all, Thunder 4x4 surprised me with his freestyle, it was solid, Hooked came out really strong and tied Max-D, it was my favorite out of them all. Max-D, ETL, and Digger all backflipped, ETL is the only truck that didn't land the flip, and Pauken's ending freestyle was awesome.
Overall, really fun show, glad that I went again this year, it is definitely one to see. It's televised, so it will be on FS1 Sunday morning. I will have photos and video up for you all to see, here's the first video uploaded of Hooked's freestyle!
