That's nice. You just don't see TLT's anymore. Tamiya really let that whole crawler market get away from them BIGTIME.

That makes me want a TLT. I used to want one really bad but I heard the drivetrain was really fragile. I love it with the mj tires on it! :tmb

That looks great. Almost makes me want to take apart one of my scalers and rebuild a stock TLT.

I had one for a while and regret selling it all the time. The only mods were a wheelie bar and independent 4 wheel steering. The truck was a blast. It couldn't do much offroading in stock trim because the ground clearance was so low, but the truck even in stock trim was very quick. Never had an issue with anything on the truck. I had the slipper locked and it never skipped a beat. I jumped it a lot and it held up fine.

The fragile part is probably coming from rock crawlers who ended up having to make tons of hop ups for the axles. But in crawling the stresses are different than what we do. The biggest problem, as JK noted, was ground clearance and, by consequence, suspension travel. In stock form the belly would scrape over everything.....

The truck was not made for 2.2's that's why things break. Rockcrawling guys made stuff to keep it from breaking
