Your welcome for the photos. Also, just judging from the tread pattern tom likes to run on his truck i'd go with the Kyosho USA-1's shaved down, i think they'd be perfect.
No perfect tire out there for that perfect look I guess. The
USA-1 tires was an option, but well see.
And your work on AllMonster.com is something I wish I could do. (on my to do list)

Looking Good!! Wally does amazing work, good choice! It's going to look solid with the chrome dip. Never new you could do that. Nice job on reid's mutt body to man! Care to try one for me? Not the mutt though.
As I talked to my chrome pro. he said it was not a dip, but a paint job.
And that dalmation project was a fun and challenging one.
As far as another challenge, I may be down with it. Keep in touch, we can talk more soon.

Look what the chromer let be bring home a few days early:wnk:wnk:wnk.

Kalai, the Chromer said It was still cureing and needed another day or two to do so. But he also said if I wanted to let it cure at home I could. So guess what:tmb:tmb:tmb.

A little lighter than the real one but its what I wanted. I was looking for something a bit shiny for our car show. So Im happy.

Not fully cured yet but let me tell yo something. The Black Chrome sure complements the clean and smooth worksmanship if my chassis builder, hywntrucker808.

Thank you again Wally. And Now a huge thanks to Kalai of "Krome Dome", right here in Hilo town. I will be sporting a few more jobs from him soon so stay posted on those.
Till then, I tired, I going sleep.:D

WOW Jerome that black chrome looks KILLA also gald to see that your project is coming along great keep posting pictures as you go along. I have a suggestion instead of using the parma Hemi try looking for a 1/18 scale muscle machines toy motor it should fit in the frame rails of that chassis block and all. Never can thank you enough for putting in a good name in for me also thanks Preston too.

The USA-1 tires are going to be to wide of look for what Tom Runs
His are basically a goodyear shaved up, and that is what the clod tire represents.

When you see his truck his tires seem "narrow" looking, he shaves alot of his sidewalls down, and his cleats don't overlap like a USA-1 tire.
And a usa-1 tire shaved down alot looks even wider.

But a clod tire is a touch shorter to begin with, and a touch narrower, and the cleats don't overlap, so that is the tire I would use to have the look of Tom.

Yeah Clod tires is the route I have gone for my Max D build. Took a good portion of the cleats off (a little too much on one causing me to have to do 5 tires :bang) and then rounded the cleats over the edge of the sidewall a bunch. I think I might still go a little more on the edge spacing.

I would first of all narrow the rim about 1/2 an inch by doing this it makes the tire look narrower from the front then using clodbuster tires shave the top of the sidewalls to make them look round & engrave grooves in between the tire treads to look like Tom's.:tmb

My Mutt's paws are shaved. I am motivated to consider this same route.

I have wideners but the narrowed rims are in the plans too, like how I did the Mutt's.

Jerome, I think how I shaved the tires on my Digger(they were on my Predator for the finals) would suit you well. I did a regular back cut of the cleats and then saved the top down. What that did was made the cleats thinner so it looks more like real Goodyears. These rims are narrowed on the outside the same way you did yours.

If I had shaved the back cut at a steeper angle it would probably look like the MaxD tires. I'm going to do that to the tires I'm going to shave for my Predator and I think I may even have a way to sorta replicate the shave lines.

Thanks for the suggetion kent.
I am getting sold on the clod tires. At first I was going La la:willy on the juggers, But now it is all clod. Did you have a guage to taper the threads? Or weas it askilled freehand job. Your tires looks very clean.

So Jugg tires may be going to the BST section, anyone one want dibbs, PM me:tmb

that is coming out great Jerome .... as for the tires , like Kent & wally said shaved down clod tires .... if i was you i would cut the shape out with either side cutters or body scissors first then fine tune with the dremel ....

Pretty much freehand. When I first shaved Clod tires with a backcut I would precut that back corner off with lexan body scissors. So I would cut close to the top front corner at an angle down to the bottom edge close to the carcass. Then I would shave it smooth with a dremel. I would use that top corner as a stop line and when the drum on the dremel started to shave the carcass I would stop. That way all the cleats had an even shave.

After I run my tires for a few races on the grass the shave marks disappear to give it that smooth look.

Now I pretty much just just eyeball it so I do different styles of cuts. I even recently did these narrowed Clod tires I shaved to look like tractor tires like a mud bogger would use(shaved on the left, unshaved on the right). Although I shaved these from the front, that's what I meant by a steeper angle so the cleats look thinner.

Thanks Joe:tmb

Finaly mounted the engine to be permanent this morning. Sucker aint going Nowhere.unless the glue fails, then there goes the belt or a blower pully.

I was able to start the floors inside the cab, and also make a seat.

Hey, Any suggestions on a Speed controler OTHER than an EVX. The EVX is Kinda on the large side to just hide under a fuel cel. Will be using 15t HPI firebolt motors and a 3000 nmh stick pack with 15tooth pinions. LMK.

I think this rig is going to be awesome!!

One suggestion I have is try to match some colors up. Blue shock caps, red rod ends, purple servo saver, green zip ties??? Looks kind of funky with the rainbow of Skittles attached to the truck....hehe

Sweet job though, I really dig that chassis. :tmb

Yeah. I will need to black out a few things before it gets good enough to display.
Till then, Maybe Skittles can be a sponsor:tong.
