Maniac tuber rep

howdy everyone, dont post much on here but having recently deciding on my winter RC project, I figured I would post about it.
it first starts with a trade with Mr. Plum for my rc4wd beadlocks and rumble tires in exchange for a painted body. Being Canadian and a big MT fan it wasnt even a second thought to pass up on having a Maniac painted body

first the plan was to mount it up on my x factor 2. after sitting on it for a few months I browsed over some tuber projects on here and thought wouldnt it be cool....
well this photo should pretty explain my course of action:

I will post again once I get some tubing and start on it.

That a great looking paint job!

The chassis looks like it'll be pretty cool when done. Keep the pictures coming!

metal finally ordered, now in the process of looking for clod axles, stock white clod wheels and tires and red body shocks.
if anyone can help me with the last three that would be awesome

thanks terry here is another progress picture, my god did I have some fun trying to figure out bend radius and where to start a bend. ran outta propane or I would have had the braces from the shock towers to the cab cage put on.

been awhile since I posted but have been super busy.

bought a clod roller off of JDR so now I will have some parts for mock up which should be soon.
One question i have to ask is, would it be better to buy a pencil torch or a soldering iron? I would like to be able to put my chassis's together on a wooden table without lighting it ablaze. the torch I am using now does provide me with that.
learning alot and already wishing I had put more thought process into making the chassis but being my first I really cant complain, my future chassis's will only get better!
cheers

Hey man I started out with a pencil torch but it put out alot of heat from the flame,so I bought a soldering iron and man its alot better then the torch. It heats up alot faster, and no more gas :D

Im gonna let some of the other guys who have built more tubers chime in but from what I know to get both pieces of tubing heated up nicely you need that torch. Other wise your just heating up the solder and not making a solid joint. Having fun yet Nick ? Cant wait to see her all together !

thanks! I am slowly learning and already planning my next couple of chassis's haha
also if anyone can help point me in the right direction, for my next couple of questions:
-I want to put a "sponsor plate" on the chassis, other then flat lexan is there any other suggestions for what I can use or where I can find the proper lexan sheet?
-red bodied shocks (preferably anodized) but am having a **** of a time finding any, looking for them in 4" sizing.
-swaybars (realistic looking ones)
cheers

welp my clod donor appeared today so I figured I might aswell clean up my joints a bit and finish the last few pieces so I can put the two halves together.

then comes the fun part of figuring out where everything is gonna go:D
