Hey guys well i was trying to get my brothers jato running today after i got all the new parts he got for christmas on and it won't get fuel. I took off the fuel line from the gas tank and primed it and fuel came shooting out. then i hooked the fuel line up and did the same thing and sure enough fuel came out then also, but when i hooked it up to the carb the fuel does not go anywhere, its like something is blocking it from comming up. (side note: i did convert it to pull start).

any help would be great.
Thanks
Steve

If it doesn't have an in-line filter that could cause the problem, set the high speed 4 turns out, and the low speed so it's flush with the surface around it (the Traxxas website can explain it better than I). These are the stock settings. If it still doesn't work, I'm going to guess a carb problem.

the truck has been run several times before this. It does not have an inline filter. In a matter of fact i ran the truck about 2 weeks before i put all the new stuff on. I will try messing with it a little more at work tomorrow.

Thanks for the info!

no, the only thing i changed on the engine was the pipe/header, and converted it to pull start. i am pulling and pulling and i don't see anything coming up from the fuel tank going into the carb and i don't see fuel anywhere so i don't believe it is leaking.

Thanks

The new pipe and header may not be allowing enough back pressure.

Try this.

Place finger over exhaust hole, give it a few slow pulls.
Remove finger, quick pull should start if tuned.

Also if the carb has a leak, or the fuel line has a leak it won't start when hooked up.

One of the reason's I am not fond of Nitro, too many years fixing Nitro vehicles at my shop.

(course I just spun the pinion gear off my Electric, so like I should talk)

Goooood luck.

yea i have tried that already, lol. Still nothing. I replaced all the fuel line took the entire engine apart and cleaned/tighten everything. I am pretty sure i am getting fuel now but it is still not starting. This leads me to believe it could be a fouled glow plug. So i am going to get a new one tomorrow and see if she fires up.

Thanks guys!

It happens to my cars too when I let them sit for a while (too often lately). I just take out the glow plug and put a little fuel directly on the piston and try to start it. If it still soesnt start take off the air filter and put fuel directly in the carb and once it fires up and runs for a while it should clear out. Probly some gummed up fuel in there.. Speaking of Jatos, I still have mine I got from you :tong

Also closing the needles all the way and re-opening them might help, but im sure you've done that already..

Nice... how's it treating you lol. my brother bought one a few weeks after I sold mine to you. anyway I have tried almost everything and am getting nowhere... I even tried putting a little fuel in the carb like you saID and it still would not start. this lead me to 2 possibilities ... either the glow plug igniter is not charged or the glow plug iS shot.

thanks for all the help guys

Why don't you pull out the glow plug and put it in the igniter? You can kill 2 birds with one stone, if the igniter is charged the coil of the glow plug should be a bright orange. If nothing happens, charge the igniter and try again. If still nothing, try a new plug.
