Lipos and the Nrctpa

Most everyone has switched to lipos so the nimh rule is a challenge. Who is bringing a nimh just to freestyle as it seems like an added expense for an allready expensive event to run.
The other series dont have this stipulation. Also at the I hobby events we run longer than 1 minute its more like 4. We have beat the snot out of these lipo packs there. Its not like this is the only component that can fail during an event like this. I would like to see something done with this if possible.

Personally, I don't have a problem with hard-case lipos in freestyle. People have run some low-rated packs very hard in freestyle at other events without incident. However, I personally will never vote for them to be legal without us having multiple fire extinguishers on site due to the responsibility that we have to preserve the facility as much as possible. The directors will discuss this issue and the costs involved and when we come to a conclusion it will be posted on the general forum.

I agree with Eric. Besides shouldn't we have this safety equipment already? I know that Caden would be bumbed if he couldn't freestyle because of our batteries. I don't think I have enough running nickles left to make a pack either.

I AGREE! We should already have extinguishers on site! Especially on the pulling side. THis is where I think the biggest chance lies due to no MINIMUM Capacity rule!

extinguisers are apparently not good.... lipos generate their own oxygen from what I am hearing.......buckets of sand or crockpots..or like that.....or some kind of chemical extinguisher .......anyways buckets of sand is not a bad idea.......
