Killer Quad Cab Ford!

OK people check it out. As we all roam across our particular forums that we have joined and become a part of we will browse countless build threads looking for ideas and inspiration for this great hobby of ours and to build our next truck. Well once in a while you will run into something that catches your imagination and your desire and this is what has happened to MJBE and MiRatlhed. Markturbo built a quad cab Super Duty Ford and one look at that truck and we absolutely fell in awe of it and had to have one for ourselves. We discussed the matter and Joe had the parts to build the drivetrain. We had to have one of our own so plans began for the builds.

Joe bought some aluminum stock and built a prototype frame so we could get the bodies ready for mounting. Joe built up 4 brand new Clod axles complete with bearings and fresh internals. Bought two brand new EVX2 ESC's w/ Revo Titan motors so the one would already be reversed and Slash waterproof Rx boxes. I bought new Integy beadlock rims and RC4WD Mud Slingers and had a couple nice digital servos to move the meats in the right direction. I also had enough red Traxxas tubes to use for the links. Joe got the frame together and shipped it out to me so I could get a body completed. This frame that Joe built was not nearly strong enough for our liking so I was able to find some stock that was the same size but the wall thickness was much better and now the frame is where we wanted it all along. Joe could not get that material where he lives and knew that this is not the frame we were set on using. So a new and improved frame has been built and it is so strong that we are very happy with it now.

Here is a shot of one of the trucks almost done. Some body parts need to be put on still but the overall truck is really where we like it and what we have been shooting for. Our trucks will be a pair that will mean more than RC, it has a bond of friendship in them. For two people who can see something eye to eye and really enjoy the completed project is a job well done.

Hope you all enjoy the pics, this thread has just begun as one more truck is to be completed yet and scale goodies to be had. More pics and video will be sure to follow so stay tuned RCMT!!!!

I was talking to him earlier and he wondered if I saw that and I did. He even broke out the Turtle wax for the inaugural picture taking session.

Now put that truck on the ground and lay on the ground by it to take some serious scale pics. The closer you are to the ground the more real the truck looks. But in all reality that truck could be sitting on a toilet and I would still think that is one sick ride!!!! :wnk

wicked build ! i love how clean it is :tmb

Exactly my thoughts. Very well done:tmb. Some day I will get the courage to hack up a nice body and try to build my own crew cab. I always wanted one. I wish Tamiya would come out with one.

Thanks for the props guys! The build was pretty simple but just like you guys say very clean and not a lot of needless brackets and stuff to add that you would just never see. Simple and effective. See what can come about by studying a build thread, I probably read Markturbo's thread 25 times and looked at those pics a 100 times....haha I am still wondering how the EVX and Titans are going to do, I bet is it going to be a little faster than what we want! Might have to get a couple 35T lathe motors for mine, although it might be OK. We'll have to see once I get mine put together. Hopefully Mike will get a radio in his so we can see how she does. I will be for sure posting video of mine when it is done.

The two bodies we are using were scratch built by Bruiser Builder himself and those were the first two he ever did he told Mike. I do not have those kind of skills yet to make such a sweet body otherwise I would have been all over it. I wonder if Mike will get his dirty like Markturbo did in his video....:laugh I almost wet myself watching that video....haha

The Xtreme Clod looks great with those wheels and tires on it, I bet those hooked up sweet. You need a Red Sox body on that bad boy to really set it off. Glad you are having fun with it, it was a really rewarding build for me to do.
