Meh. I already have a King Hauler. How about giving us something visually unique to that?? How about a Kenworth T500, T600, T800, T900, or W900?? How about some frickin' Peterbilts?? They don't even offer a Mac truck, for cryin' out loud!! Until they get smarter about what they offer, I'll just stay with my King Hauler and Knight Hauler.

You do realize licensing is the big thing. Look at the Cascadia and Aeromax and the extra money you normally have to pay for those over the basic king or globe. Also if they did all the work were would the enjoyment of making the truck look the way you want it to and customizing it and actually using skills to create something different and unique.

People need to stop making excuses for Tamiya where it comes to licensing. They're a MODELING company first. They make models. R/C is like a hobby for them. A lot of the things they refuse to make in r/c, they already have in static model form. You can look at their line of r/c battle tanks and see that Tamiya puts out what it wants in spite of tremendous consumer demand for specific models; models which they already have in smaller scales. You can't possibly cry licensing on that. They do what they want. They've already lost ground in the 1:16 r/c market, because they've sat on their arses while everyone else has caught up and pretty much offers the same models Tamiya does.

I own a bunch of Tamiyas, so it's a love/hate thing. They are easily the most frustrating r/c company out there.

I understand your point but since I don't have a king currently this would easily be my first choice. I had a knight hauler and globetrotter, always wanted a king but never got around to it. This King in disguise has enough modifications that would entice me to buy it. Tamiya kept releasing Euro style rigs for so long that its nice to see some American styles coming out.

It still is a licensing thing. They need to look at the return on investment. How many plastic models are they going to sell compared to an RC semi that's 100 times the cost of one plastic kit. I do agree they have done some things in plastic but not in R/C and you wonder why but I'm sure there's a lot more research goes into it then just throwing a dart at a dart board and seeing what sticks. Would I like to see more true scale semi, **** yes. Do I expect it, no. I'd would've loved if they licensed the knight hauler as a proper Coronado from Freightliner. That truck would've looked a lot better then the mix of Freightliner and 386 Pete hood. And that's my next project. I have a nib knight hauler that will be turned into a flat top and try to do the proper Coronado headlights with a stretched frame so the front and rear tool boxes are the same.

I think they did a good job on retooling the king hauler to make it a more custom looking truck and I know there's parts on that truck that I want for some of my other king based trucks because no one has made those parts yet in the aftermarket area.
