No should be fine but u should def channel an opening on the stock chassis for the steering rods!! So u can get more clearance for the suspension to compress!! But that's only me!!! Did that back in the day haha old school

well parts have started coming in.I wish had a before pic.I tore truck down before i had any parts and cleaned it with soap and water.gearbox torn down regreased and bearings added, new hub, chassis body mounts and wheels.dyed all red parts black.for some reason my bearing kit was short 4 bearings so im waiting on installing second axle.I scavenged the other truck i found on craigslist for little parts.i put the axles on ebay along with the body and wheels and made my money back and was able to purchase a new esc.also have futaba high torque servo comin from tower.

the clod came with 4 bearings new, most bearing kits don't include these 4 bearings. Are you sure that some of those dirty bushings you pulled out aren't bearings? Nice build so far, so your shocks, bumper etc were red and you dyed them black? I didn't think they could get that dark using dye.

i bought a bearing kit off ebay.i used them in the front and rear trans and one axle.yeah i dyed the bumpers, shocks, and anything that was red with RIT dye.the shocks are coming off because i ordered a set of the optional oil ones from Tamiya.

what do you guys think of the ESP lift kit.I was reading through an old RCCA article from 1988 on a modded clod and the ESP kit was used.I like the idea and they still sell the kit.

Both Original Stock Tamiya Clod motors are the same if that's what you have. Green wire to black wire and yellow wire to red wire for the front motor. Green wire to Green wire Yellow wire to Yellow wire for the back motor.:)

guys truck is ready and wired up.the problem is it barely steers.i have a futaba 130 0z torque servo and even when moving the wheels barely turn.should i tighten up on the servo saver?i really want to keep 4 wheel steering.any ideas.?so frustrating, put alot of effort into this truck.

Make sure the ball cranks are tighten down. Have you tried a servo horn that is bigger in size ratio which would increase the throw on your linkage? I spent all afternoon with my own Clod adjusting the tie rods and such last January.

yeah the stock setup is weak. Tighten bellcranks as much as possible and replace all the red rod ends and ball studs with a better quality rod end and 3mm hardware.

Yeah I'm very happy with my own set up being that I don't want the truck flip over too easy on the ashphalt here. My 23 year old Clod is the only one that really turns sharp both ways and it will flip over too easily. Being said that I only need to touch the steering very gently.

ok.back from dinner.i redid everything and tightened the bellcranks as much as i could.it seems better in the living room.but wont know till i get it outside.i guess anything better would come from single servo setup.also it seems like my throttle seems to be reversed.i have to press the trigger forward to go forward rather the squeeze it.its set to normal on my pistol and the motor wires are correct.im running an lrp runner plus with reverse.
