Hey all,
Just picked up my Mad Force VE earlier this week, and have done a couple mods to improve handling, and electronics layout. I thought I'd share my mods.
The rear suspension was way to stiff in my opinion. The rear shocks are stood upright quite a bit more than the fronts, which increases the stiffness thru suspension travel. I was originally going to change springs/shock oil to free up the rear suspension, but instead came up with a no-cost way to acheive this...
I took off the rear metal shock "towers", and swapped them side to side, and rotated them around to move the upper shock mount position down and forward, giving a much more progressive suspension action (similar to the front setup). I can now drop the truck from 2-3 feet up, with little to no rebound. MUCH improved!!
I also moved the ESC from it's sideways position, to flat on the chassis between the center shaft and the side plate. It was a PITA to unplug the battery plugs in the original position, and now the wires are not close to rubbing on the center shaft or spur gear.
I've wanted a Mad Force VE for a while now...I had a Twin Force back in 2005, and it's probably the one truck I've ever regretted selling. The MF VE is an improvement on that platform, and I'm looking forward to spending some QT with the beast!!
