I've got a question about my slash...

I have the 2wd slash and was wondering is it normal to slip the 30 tooth idler gear in the tranny? I have stripped it twice now and I just don't see how it keeps stripping. I would think the Spur gear or something would strip before the steel does.

I don't think I ever stripped the gear itself, but I did shear the pin off the it rides on. Are your bearing in the tranny still good, did you clean out and dirt that may have been inside the housing?

you can't replace just 1 gear

reason is all are worn, so changing only 1 means the 2 old gears will eat the new.

The bearings are all still good and I cleaned the little bit of dirt out that was in there and re greased everything.

I didn't know that. I'll have to run to the hobby shop tomorrow and get all new gears for it. Thank you.
many people don't realize that.
Same with chain and sprockets, can't replace just a chain or a sprocket, all need to be replaced because they all are worn.

I woud just by a new Ebay traney to replace the hole thing ---- you may find it is cheeper than the LHS
