It's here- Predator ***should I say Nightwing

Here it comes, I have been like a squirrel the last couple of months, gathering parts and waiting for the winter to hit. My wife is having a baby next week (Lord Willing), so I will be able to take the week off and do some things I might not be able to do otherwise. I probably won't even be able to get to this, what the heck am I thinking. Not to mention I have three other RC scale projects I wanted to work on and finish this winter. I don't know, Monster Trucks...they just happen to fly to the top of the list it seems.

So here's the breakdown

Here's what I have:

Tamiya Axles (ttr adjustable motor mounts, bearings)- $95
CPE New Predator Dual Battery Chassis, links, upper link mounts, swaybars- $110
Defiance Racing lower link shock mounts- $10
rc4wd mud slingers (mounted on white tamiya rims)- traded
Rear wheeliebar made from forum member scottyK- $35
ttr CVD set- $65
Savox fast high torque titanium steering servo 1258tg- $47
ttr steering system with bumper- $65
Traxxas evx-2 esc dual titans- traded
Custom painted lid- $65
Racers Edge aluminum servo horn- $11

Here's what I need:

Jato Shocks- $20
Another set of indoor tires and rims- $50
Dual Brushless setup- $125-300
Outdoor Winter Basher Body- home grown
BTA steering system- $35
Ofna Servo Saver- $10

I'm kinda in shock (that's why I take my time and pick stuff up here and there)- this stuff adds up quick. This goes to show you that when a guy post a ARTR truck for $350-400...it's usually a pretty good deal.

Here's what I am thinking. Originally I wanted something outside that I can bash and get wet- hence the mudslingers and traxxas waterproof stuff. But now I am getting the indoor carpet bug and might go a different direction or both. I have a great contact for Powder Coating so I am thinking to go that route, but I kinda want to get this built so that I can have a couple of different trucks to drive if I go to some races in January or February.

So here's to a good start and let's see where it lands!

yeah I am really looking forward to it. Thanks for all the looks guys even though I know it's not me but more Brett and the new Predator Chassis.

So someone filled me in that the titans wouldn't work with the advanced timing. Then I got thinking about it and I really don't want to mess with brushes and rebuilds ect.... so now I am heavily thinking brushless again. I love my 4600kv sidewinders... castle has a clearance sale right now for mamba max for about the same price.

BUT, the ezrun setups are like half the cost. Looks like most guys here run castle stuff. Does anyone run dual ezrun systems on their clods?

here's one of two custom bodies I have picked up recently. This one was from proline's photoshoot for this truck. I really like the clean lines. http://prolineracing.com/bodies/2007-chevy-silverado-t-e-2-5-maxx-revo-savage/ Don't know if I will mount this one or the other one I picked up- need to wait for that one to arrive:drool Really excited about these. There's another one I have my eye one but it's just a little out of reach especially with wanting to go dual brushless.

I guess I never realized that they do not make body holes for the bodies in their ads...

Very cool lid, can't wait to see the truck assembled!

some of the proline display trucks do have holes in them. This particular one has a set on the roof for light bar pose and a hole in the back window for a nitro motor. I saw both of these before I bought it and took them into consideration. I figure the ones on the roof can either get another roof rack added (or covered by stickers) and the rear will be an access to the on/off switches :bang

The body looks real good even with the holes... but I don't know if this is the one for this ride... I still need to take a look at the one I just bought from a forum member here, dirtovalrich.

I am taking my aluminum stuff to my friend that does powder coating and we will look at those color options and make a decision then.

thanks again for the encouragement- this is a fun build

still trying to figure out what I am gonna do for power. Keep it brushed, go brushless... some many decisions

So I took some time and fabricated some interior body mounts- so not to put more holes in custom body. Really easy to do, cheap and sturdy!

Here's some pics with it mounted on my terminator...looks good

Pics of another new body I purchased and will probably land on the Predator

Nice body mounts. :tmb

See the Terminator is still looking good.
I owe it all to you...literally:shk

Like I said body mounts were easy and very sturdy... I actually like them better than before. Here's a thread that I used to make them from: http://www.rcmt.biz/bd/showthread.php?12109-Body-Mounting-Options Bill sticky'd it.

Went to Home Depot and bought a bunch of nylon spacers, fender washers and flathead screws and there you go. The key is getting the big 4" wide industrial strength velcro and just put a huge patch down ea side- let them setup overnight before pulling and pushing.

I just can't believe that I am starting to have one of those trucks that I see all you guys have. too cool! Hopefully going through the terminator this week and getting the steering all tightened up and where it needs to be- too much slop. Wedge here, tighten there, new servo.

To the artist formally known as Stangnomore here's what's on just the terminator that I bought from you:

Chassis and shocks and upper link mounts
wheels and tires
number of emails about steering setup
walk through on body mounts
connection to rearlockout wheelie bar

your name's has to make it on the truck somewhere!

lets' see for the predator

axles
ttr steering
ttr cvd
