I know your really not supposed to, but my duratrax charger crapped out on me, and I wanna run my mini which uses a 1200mah nimh 6 cell pack. Could i charge it with my vision peak (made for nicads). Is it bad for the charger or the battery? or will it just not work at all?

just keep an eye on it with a voltmeter. the older non nimh chargers detected peak differently.

technically you can use a time charger to charge them too if you watch the voltmeter and manually peak it.

you can also do rough calculations of how much time it should take when fully discharged. example, 3300 mah = 3.3 amp hours. so if you're charging at 4 amps would take 49.2 minutes

A*t=amp hours
3.3*1=3.3
4*0.82=3.29

60min.*0.82=49.2min.

well undercharging can set the memoy wrong if done too many times (NIMH still has a memory effect, just less of one than NICD) and overcharging can cause a cell t rupture... also keep an eye on cell temps, this is usually caused by high amps, but I usually charge at 6amps with no problems

do not charge a mini pack at 6 amps.you will destroy it. charge it at 1-2 amps and watch the temp.
