This is my first WK, so bare with me. I've decided to try and replicate the yellow Invader MT from the Monster Wars days.

So I started with making some bottom links.

And then I just added a spacer for the upper links. ( I'll eventually get around to making a true 4 link )

After That I Upgraded to some shorter aluminum threaded shocks by Helion.

Then I went ahead and got some "different" shafts by Traxxas. They work great BTW. And in doing so, I needed to lengthen the links more, so I just added some nuts to the ends and Viola! lines up great. This put my truck at the 11 inch WB I need. If you use these shafts, you'll need the shorter shocks and the wheelbase needs to be at 11 inches or else they will not work. ( dogbones will fall out of the cups if too long, and binding will happen if too short)

So now I got a bit bored, and a little crafty, so i went out and bought some acrylic sheet and went to work on a new chassis.

I scribed the lines for the chassis, then I used some FASKMASK to mask it off. cut it out and paint from the inside.

And here it is put together.

Cool truck and nice job being creative and thinking outside the box!

Love the looks of the drive shafts.

How do you like those shocks? Any issues with leaking? Are the spring rates soft enough?

The shocks are "ok" i guess. There is a one thats leaking.. And the spring rate is from what id guess a medium softness which works well for the truck not bouncing like crazy. It also helps with takin off at full throttle. The front pulls up a bit but no wheely's on command. Ill probly be messing with some more springs and see which ones i like.

Boom!

Finally done! Not bad for my first time painting I guess. Only things that arent paint are the lights and grill. I had a little trouble with the flaskmask peeling correctly so theres a few blips and misses here and there. But id say she came out pretty solid.

I noticed you're running an old Speed Gems motor in there. I haven't seen one of those in a long time. How many turns is the green one? The blue 17t were all the rage back when I got into RC.

so this one is the speed gems 2 Jade, and it is a 15 turn quad motor. plenty of power for this guy. I've had it brand new for a little while, and this was the perfect project to use it on.
