Hi everybody.I just joined the site and I'm new to r/c,so I had a question for all of you.Should I buy a kit and upgrade it or build one from scratch?I'm leaning towards building one myself, but I thought I'd ask people who have way more expierence than I do.Any advice or tips on the matter would be greatly appreciateted. Thanks everybody and stay safe out there!:)

totaly new to hobby grade r/c?
are you mechanically inclined, or have a buddy into r/c nearby?

If you are totaly new, and have nobody around your best bet may be to start with a RTR and go from there

what kinda rc are you thinking about going with?

i'm a clod man and from exprience all you have to do is get a set of axles and then buy or build everything else. truely if it were me i would just get the plastic gear case and then get aluminum tubes, steer knuckles, gears and then either build a chassis or buy one. there are so many hop ups for clods out there you dont need to buy the kit. also ebay is a good place to find all kinds of stuff to. but like i said i'm a clod man.

I am new here but not to the whole pulling or MT scene, I would say buy some axles and build it I Like and have the Crawford Terminator carbon chassi

If you want a R/C in general, I'd probably recommend getting a RTR kit. Electric, not a nitro. If you're not sure enough for how to fix the car should something happen, look to see what vehicles your local hobby shop carries replacement parts for. If you can fix things yourself, you just need to make sure you can order spare parts for whatever you purchase.

If you want to build a modified Clodbuster, there's this really cool website called Crawford Performance Engineering that can hook you up... :)

Thanks

Thanks everybody. You see,I subscribe to Radio Control Car Action and I see all the new stuff coming out and how to fix things. But I've never owned a hobby grade r/c,just the stuff that you'd buy at Wal-Mart or Toys'R'Us.I think I will try to build my own chassis from scratch, since I like the monster trucks that look like the real thing. If I have anymore questions,I'll be sure to ask you guys and gals.I'm just glad I found a site with so many expierenced builders to draw knowledge from. Thanks again everybody, and stay safe out there.:)

Some times even more, and then it can turn into TXT 1's, Twin Forces, and more. It's a drug that can be very addicting and expensive.

Thats how I got started in rc except I had to check out rc car action from the library. When I got my first rc within 3 hours I had taken it part and put it back together And only had 5 screws left over. Now I have a nitro buggy a mini buggy and a 2wd MT I'm restoring(although I ruined the body with brake cleaner)

I just built my very first scratch Clod Pounder and it was an amazing experience! If you feel like you can improvise I would go that route, kits are great for the ease of it all going together but the sense of accomplishment of a scratch build is exciting! I have no one around me who builds/runs Clods, I got all of my help and advice from the forum and it turned out pretty good!
