iHobby 2009?

I understand that they would want that with the rising popularity of the CORR trucks. Honestly though i've went out and purchased my trucks in hopes that i could run at this years IHOBBY event and put on a show and help promote the hobby. I hope they atleast set aside an area for the monsters. We don't need a huge area to put on a nice, realistic looking show.

I was informed that the show promoters are leaning towards having a dirt track in place of the monster trucks this year. They liked what we did in the past but are looking for something new/different this year. This does not mean we can't do it again in the future or that its set in stone yet. If any issues come up getting the dirt offroad track together the monsters are back in.
We also will need to finalize the pulling crew and will need an annoucer, track & booth help etc. or this space will also be given up to another venue.
In years past there has always been an off-road dirt track at the iHobby Expos . . . . Brad, so what do you mean by your comment? Are they wanting to put the dirt track where the monster trucks ran?

Thanks

The floor layout is different this year. We would not be up in hall B, we would be on the main floor towards the back.
Traxxas will still have their small test track in their booth area. Thats the only dirt track thats been there for a few years.
The promoters are looking at replacing the monster truck track with a dirt offroad track that's open to all brand short course racing. (Horizon to help sponcer)
If this happens we might still be able to run monsters 1 show per day on the dirt as an option.

Do we have a head count of pullers that can for sure be there? This info needs to get to the show promoters asap to secure the spot.

A local rock crawling club is also trying to get the space and has a few sponcers lined up to back them.

Seeing as how this event has changed around this year I will not be attending I am going to make other plans. I have to admit I am dissapointed that it will not be monster truck racing this year. I am the only person who has run all 4 days for the last 3 years at this event. I supported it well. I have ruined my fair share of equipment doing it but have had alot of fun doing that.
Brad and Darren ( as well as some other volunteers)have put alot of work in this event to make it work smoothley. I thank them for that and hopefully this promotion of the corr racing does what they want it too. I hobby is a great event for the industry and the public. This event was (no matter what others thought) one of our best promotionals events that the nrctpa was part of. I have a good idea on that because I worked with the manufacturers on sponsership at this event. It was a great visual for them to see what we did in person.
If you have the chance to attend do it. I look forward to the monster truck racing making its return. I am thankful we did get the chance to do the demos there for the last 3 years.

I would think there could still be some monster truck running on the track at times. I know it may not be in the format that the clubs race normally but can still showcase how these trucks run and handle. Nothing like watching a Modded Clod getting BIG air over jumps and running an offroad track at speed. I have run one in the past on offroad and kept up with the stock stadium trucks.

it may be possible to that the course they lay or could lend to a short Monster style race course over a smaller section of it. Freestyle?? Well launch the babies over what ever they have for jumps. It can make the Corr trucks look tame LOL.

We should know by the end of the week if the dirt track will have a sponcer. If the funds don't come in then we will run Monsters on carpet like last year.

Haven't seen a big commitment from the pullers yet. We would need more than 4 confirmed drivers to make this happen. The floor space for just the pulling area, that we would be given use of, is worth over $10,000 if they sold it as booth space so iHobby would have no problem putting something else there.
The rock crawling group that is also in the running for the same space has commitment from around 15+ drivers and has several sponcers lined up. So I would say they have the edge right now.

Final decision will be made by Sat. 22nd.

Well said ERIC!!!
As of awhile back Myself and Colton and Josh was making plans eariler in the year to come up there rather then going to the WOrlds this year.....BUT....I'm not sure at the moment on Josh....he has alot of things going on later this year?
As for myself....I'm alittle confused on what kind of track layout it will be....is the track gonna be for CORE trucks or a typical 1/10 / 1/8th scale offroad course?

If I come I could bring a dirt 4x4 electric puller?

Ok, Here's how things stand after talking with the show management and how the show will play out this year.

Live dirt pulling is out this year. The rock crawling club has been given the chance to see what they can do with the space.

Carpet Monster Trucks are back in! (funds for the dirt track fell through but looks good for next year) We will need to put on an outstanding show on the track this year to prove that the NR/CTPA deserves to be there performing.
A 10x20 booth area is set aside that will be shared by the crawler club & the NR/CTPA (10x10 each) for a dispay / literature video ect. and to talk with the show goers and vendors.

We will need as many drivers as possible & a few volunteers to work the booth.

Planning for next years show will start soon after this one ends so arrangements could be made to have space for all the events (pullers, monsters, crawlers, dirt track) if the show sees a good crowd reaction from each.

That's great news to hear. I'm grateful that the monster truck will be back, as it's always a fun time at iHobby. Hopefully there will be more drivers that are contemplating coming up, or down, for it.

Here's an awesome compilation video that Vince (V Needs Speed) put together featuring highlights of the monster truck track from the iHobby Expo last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyOKvY5cHV0&fmt=18

I encourage anyone who's thinking of coming to do so, and hopefully that video will serve as an inspiration, as it illustrates how much fun we actually get to have there.

I just got an informational flyer from iHobby and it has this in it . . . .

The National Radio Control Truck Pulling Association (NRCTPA) . . . will return to the iHobby Expo? again this year. See side by side RC monster truck racing and hi-flying destructive freestyle action. There will also
be RC truck and tractor pulling: A combination of gas, nitro, and electric trucks and tractors will take their turn at the pulling track adjacent to the NRCTPA demo racing track.
Come on by and you will see action like never before.

So can we take it that iHobby Expo has us on the schedule?

Monsters, yes. Pullers, no. There will be a rock crawling course set up in the space that had been used in past years for pulling.
