Idea for a mud car

I've been wanting to make a mud car for quite some time now and i think i've found the time. I want to make a mud car/bogger out of an rc truck. I was thinking of some nominees but i narrowed it down to 2 cars. i was wondering which of these 2 trucks would make a good mud slinger. The Traxxas ERevo or the Rustler? im not a nitro guy so im staying electric. Im just wondering which one would tear through a soggy mud pit better. If you have any other choices feel free to tell me.

Thanks for your time!

-are you going for the "tractor tire mud truck" setup, or the, "low-slung mud rocket", like on TV? Either way, wouldn't you want something w/axles, they're much more realistic, & if you get interested in MTing, Crawling, you've got a versatile setup. The guys will give you much more input, Welcome to RCMT:)

im looking for a "mud rocket". im pretty much just searching for a buggy-ish truck with alot of torque. im not making any final decisions yet. did you have a certain truck in truck in mind that would be better?

i would say a clodbuster..for a bogger.. if your trying to get threw it fast maybe a original blackfoot.. there cheap and super easy to work on..

Traxxas trucks should work the mud well, but I think it would be agreed by most around here to go with a solid axle / monster / crawler type truck as a base. It's just adds to the realism.

See the vid linked below for inspiration. If your worried about solid axles only being slow, then check out the 4:00 min mark of vid.

Good luck with your project :tmb

It sounds like you are looking for more of a mud racer, but this is a bogger truck I have been working on. Its based on a jugg 2.

I'm gonna have to agree with the other fellas who have already chimed in. Straight axles, 4-link, and coil-over shocks. Unfortunately, an independent suspension set-up really does not have any ground clearance, especially when the suspension is compressed.

I would start with an HPI Wheely King. The WK is very affordable and it really has to a lot of possibilities IMHO. Hmmmm... maybe a "Wheely King Sling"???

I agree 100%. An Axial AX10 Scorpion would also be a good route. There are tons of hop-ups out there for them, as well.

well guys im going with a scale/mud truck. my choice of truck is the Axial SCX-10. im going to put some Traxxas electronics in it if i get it. 21t motor might just be enough to almost tear the truck apart but also get the job done. im still thinking whether i should make the purchase. How about a name like "Thrash Master"?

Your going to want more than a 21t in it, the axial is geared very very low. More like a 10 or 12t motor and a 20 tooth pinion to get some RPMs
