Ok heres the skinny. I bought a truck from a guy, and i absolutely loved it. Until i went to go change out the springs and i noticed that the shock mounts that thread all the way to the other side of the axle (txt/jugg axle) had no heads on the screws on all four corners. It was like someone cut the heads off. And as you all know the way those axles are set up, if you cant losen the screws than you can not remove the shocks since the shock screw is blocked by the carrier. So at first i was like screw it, oh well i will just keep those on. But than i thought about it, i will not be able to take the axle apart if i cant get those long screws out. So if the gears strip or something else happens have to buy whole new axles not just whats broken. So i asked the seller whats going on, and he didn't know. He said he never looked at that when he bought the truck from some other guy. So about 3 or 4 days ago i asked him to ask the other guy he bought it from were we missing something,so he said he would but the seller has not gotten back to me up until today. I wrote the seller and asked for a partial refund so i can buy new axles, and he replies to me to send the truck back and he would give me a full refund. Like i said i love the truck and i dont want to send it back, also i dont want to spend money on shipping. As of right now the truck is perfect, (though i have not put any electronics in it yet) but if something needs repair it is unrepairable. So do you think the seller should honer a partial refund? Am i over reacting? What would you do in this situation?

That is the price of buying used. I can't even begin to count the number of completely messed up things I have encountered from buying used. Wood screws for suspension arm pins, stripped gears, wheel hexes JB Welded on, pinion gears JB Welded on, bearings missing from assemblies, stripped plastic anchors for screws...the list goes on, and on, and on.

You are going to run into things like this buying used. Simple fact. The only way to avoid it is to buy new. Unless there is something obvious and really bad wrong with the truck - like let's say the ESC resembles a piece of Kingsford - then I chalk it up to buying used and move on.

You won't have to buy a new axle either if you need to disassemble it. You can get screw extractors for very small screws. If that doesn't work you can either drill them out and re-tap the hold for a larger screw (a lot of times you can get away with going to the next size standard size) or worst case scenario you use a cutting wheel on a dremel to notch the screw and use a flat blade screw driver to get it out. You will have to file down/sand down the block to make it look nice again but it will beat buying a new assembly.

There's no problem. On Jugg axle the blocks are screwed from the inside. Only on TXT are the screws long and go from one end to the other. But I would change it over to long screws.

It's that way on the Jugg because it normally has the U-bolts for the leafsprings holding everything together. But because your setup doesn't use leafs I would switch over to long screws.

Not trying to be mean

Thats a hard thing to deal with,
Not knowing how these trucks are all built.(or can be built)
But at the same time you need things like that to show you how they are built, and you have to jump into this stuff to see what holds them together.
And before you ask for money back, be sure you know as much as the guy who built it.And at least try to get it apart before telling everybody it can't be taken apart.

I bet the sellers are having a stressfull moment over nothing.
