I Hobby Expo

Does this look like fun or what. How would you like to play in front of say 100,000 people or more? How would you like to be able to talk to all the big shots in R/C? How would you like one of those fancy passes to get into the I Hobby Expo? How would you like to promote the hobby of Monster Truck racing and the NR/CTPA?

Darren Grillo has created the opportunity for us to race monster trucks at the I Hobby Expo. The race track will be the first thing people see as they walk in the front door. You can look at their website at ihobbyexpo.com. There is a map of the event there. The dates are October 19,20,21, and 22. We are looking to have 10 plus trucks there every day. The schedule is yet to be set but would require you to be there something like once every two hours.

I have been to this expo several times representing the Hobby Shop I manage. Everytime I come away with so much information to share with customers I have at the shop and I also get lots of good information for projects I am working on.

Thanks for starting the topic. I was going to post on this I am with monsters and sled dragons here and am looking forward to this. Brad called me the other night and filled me in. We will be setting up up track and running elimination racing as far as I know. It will be a great way to promote our little side of the racing world in front of a audience that is not normally hit. I am looking to go all out for this event we have a lot of work to do but it will be worth it.

Is there a possiblity of having a pull there? If so, I will bring my pullers with me when I am there with the Hobby Shop.

From what I have seen in years past October 19 & 20 is for retail/buyers & dealers only . . . October 21 & 22 is when the public can come and look. But either way, having an event demo of Monster Trucks or Pullers will draw more instrest to the assocation.

Anyhow Jerry what do you think of this Chicago deal? Looks like a great promotion for the sport. If you do sell all your stuff by then you know that I will set you up with a truck.

I may bring a piece of pulling carpet and a pulling sled. There will be some down time between the races and it could work as a nice fill in. Most of the attendies will have seen monster truck races, but not like we do. Most will not even know that R/C pulling exists, yet had a chance to see it first hand.
The biggest hurtle we will face is frequencies. Since this is a hobby show, channels have to be reserved and only those can be used. We are working to get as many as we can.
We will have a limited number of passes available so if you are interested we need to know ASAP.
If you are coming and have or have concidered changing to a DSM (Spectrum) system this will help free the limited channels that we will be able to use and make pairing easier.

Hey guys this event is coming up fast and we really need bodies with trucks. This is going to be an excellent place to showcase our hobby. If you think about it this is the crowd we want to hit.....the hobby people themselves. THe show has always been covered by the magazines.

If I had a way to get there, I would... but right now transportation and funds are the issues... I'd love to be there, but I just think I will have to hold off, unless someone else from area goes and I can possibly split costs... even then, not sure.

It's great opportunity that Darren and Brad have setup, make the most of it. I hope you guys have a great turn out though, wish I could make it.

We do have a few people coming in that we know of but the more the bettter. This is such a great way to showcase our little corner of the hobby. How far are you from JAy? I am going to push on this event because of the importance of it. We are going to be able to perform in front of the hobby market in Chicago I know that people have come from all over to see this show. Are going to make it to worlds? I know that we had talked about some bodies to let me know if I can do anything for you.

Hey Paul,
Good to hear that you are going to go to the event. As far as the channels go of course dsm is open. Then the other channels are as follows 66,81,83,86,88 and 90. I have all mine in 86 but I now that I will have some spares in the other numbers. Look forward to seeing you there.

Is there going to be anyone bringing pullers? I would like to do a demo, but if there is not going to be others I will not bring mine. I will be there with the hobby shop I manage, so i might bring a puller and charging equipment just in case. I am staying in the hotel across the street, so it will not be that big of deal to go get it.
