How many of the 3 speeds were produced? Sales numbers

I am curious about how many of these were actually made, and how many are floating out there. It seems like every day there are new ones on ebay.

Tamiya never released sales numbers.
Probably many more bruisers than anything else though, mounty was the last release and wasn't very long.

There must have been a lot for all these people to have NIB 3 speeds 20 years later. And there are always new Bruisers popping up on Ebay. I don't know where people are finding them.

hobby stores arent the most organized places... sometimes they'll have a bruiser hiding in a corner still in the box because they either can be bothered to dig it out or they just dont know what they have because they're too busy selling t-maxxes to little brats who dont know how to maintain them.

My guess is they made around 20,000 bruisers. Thats just a guess on my part though. Maybe 10,000 Mountaineers. Any one else want to guess. You might see 5 trucks a week on ebay, either whole or in pieces. That seems like a lot, but is only 250 a year.

There has already been 7-10 this week on Ebay it seems. I have been outbid on 3 of them. I am sick of it really. They are awesome, but not worth that kind of money.

How much is your maximum bid?

You will be surprised, at the right time...you will snatch a very good deal!

Timing is everything. Most especially on ebay.

The number of NIB 3 speeds out there probably is not that many, just the same ones keep coming back up with a profit margin added.

But, may I ask... The 3 speeds would be the least selling model in the line up, from the price, at any given time. At my local off road club, when I started in '86 there was one Bruiser to 10 Frogs, 2 Pajeros, 7 or 8 Hornets etc....

..... Where are the bulk numbers of these models, that would of out sold all the SRB's and 3 Speeds 50 times over?.

Prolly in the trash.... :willy

I snagged all mine for $500 or under you just got to be patient and shrug off when you get out bid

a chassis will run from $250 - 400 depending on shape
a complete truck in fair condition will run $500 - 1000 (I got VERY lucky)

and the best time of year to buy them is around christmas, but I had good luck in august too so it is possible to get them almost year round

just be aware that some sellers dont show ALL the damage these trucks might have

Usually around $700 is as far as I'll go, and even that is usually way too much I think.

In fact, I just won a Bruiser this morning for $591. It was a good deal even though it looks a tiny bit beat up.

Thanks! I am glad to be a member.

Here is the link:

There was another one that went for $735 that might have been a little bit better a couple of hours after I won mine:

It really is a gamble. I went on the German EBAY. That's where I won mine. My wife is in germany, and I am moving there in a couple months when I finish my time in the Army, so shipping won't be expensive. I'll have to wait to see mine, but that's ok.

I hope this one is in decent shape. The other one looks in better shape, and might have been worth the extra $150.

Well, I noticed some things like it's missing the rubber tranny plugs, it doesn't have the stock tires, and there's some tape or something on the black electrical box. That's what I can see so far.

Do you think it was a decent deal?

I guess I won't know what shape it's in until I see it up close. I'm probably gonna tear it down, clean it real nice, and build it back up to fix anything wrong. I would like to use this as a runner as well as a shelf queen. I won't do anything crazy with it though. I'll save that stuff for the High Lift! Although I might be tempted.

I think it's in good shape. It's clean too. Complete for that price. I say the price is not that bad.
