If you're planning on building it stock, other than a screwdriver or two you'll be all set with tools.

Modified Clod, while that's a whole different story with all the different aftermarket parts/chassis available for the Clod.

Good luck and enjoy!

You won't have any issues using that radio. You just won't have 4WS. You need a Third channel for that. For the Servo it won't work well at all. It only has 41oz of Torque. Do you plan on running the ESC from it also?

Clod stuff

You might want to upgrade to a better servo. Some folks (Thanx!) on this board just turned me on to the mg945 servo (See link above) if you are looking for a good and cheap (cost wise) servo. For the (approx) $20.00 you spend the sevos listed in the link above will steer a heavy clod very good. If your servo does only have 41 oz of torque the Clod is gonna go more where it wants than where you want.

You said at first it was a kit then you said it was assembled Super Clod. If its a stock Clod then ONE servo can give you four wheel steering. Just follow the directions to hook it up. But if you have to use the servo you have you may be better off with two wheel steering only. The Twenty bucks you spend on a stronger servo (like the ones above) will never be regretted. Plus the servo you have may strip out under this load and then you HAVE to buy a better servo and a gearset for that one.

The stock Clods three speed mechanical speed control (if not burned out) is fine for the backyard. Especially if you need to save a bit more for a really good electronic one. Are you planning on hot motors anytime soon? If you stay with the stock silver cans you can use a milder speed control. But later hopups will tax a weak one. The new Traxxas XL5 speed control (see link below) Is quite reasonable and very nice control and can handle one 12 turn in a Stampede. A Clods a lot heavier but geared deeper and this control will drive some pretty decent motors later if you upgrade. A Novak Super duty will handle pretty much anything you decide to run later but they will set you back about a hundred bucks give or take. (A used super rooster is also good if you find one priced right. 60 to 90 bucks usually and can handle pretty hot motors if you do not overgear and run in deep grass all the time)

Anything else that we can help with just give an ask. Bill

Yes, those are the replacements for the CS-80. Faster and stronger. I think I need to upgrade:rof

CS-80MG
130 oz/in (9.4 Kg/cm) @ 4.8v and 6v
.25 sec/60 deg @ 6v

CS704/MG
181oz/in (13kg/cm) @ 4.8v
195 oz/in (14.6kg/cm) @ 6v
17sec/60deg @ 4.8v
15sec/60deg @ 6v

x2 on the Tower Pro Servo's.. The 9805BB's is a 1/4 Scale servo you might be able to use. Pretty much the same price as the MG945's and MG995's. Just has twice as much torque.

Watch where you buy the Tower Pro Servos ob E-Bay. If they say shipping from the US... I dought they are real TP servo's. I'm the only Tower Pro Distr. in the US. So they would have to go through me first. So if the deal seems to good to be true... It might just be.

On More thing.. Unlike most servo's even CS's... Stuff. All three servo's I listed above from Tower Pro are rated up to 7.2v's.... Most standard servo's are only rated at 6v.... Add a cell to these get more power... The 9805BB has over 330oz of Torque for under $30 Bucks.

Whatcha got?

When I think 1/4 scale I think huge servo like 1 inch by three inches. I know those can be made to ift in the belly of a stock chassis clod for steeering power but I have a question for Run2jeepin. What is the strongest most durable servo you sell thats standard size so it will fit a "Behind the axle" steering setup on in a Traxxas Stampedes servo hole? But be tough. Thanx Bill

when assembling the truck, use bearings, and consider a ESC.

one servo per axle is also a good modification and can be controlled by a reversing y harness for 2 channel radios or you can independently control the servos with a 3 or 4 channel radio
