i picked up a used erevo a few days ago...was the brushed edition...on another forum, i asked if my mamba max (*not monster*) with a 5700 (540 size can) would be ok to use, and answer was yes...i know the brushless edition uses the mamba monster...

anyway, right now it's geared with the 68t spur and 19t pinion...motor is hot after a short while...anyone try this setup before? any recommendations as to which pinion to use???

help greatly appreciated...

Jay I don't know about running that motor because the erevo trans is geared very very high. That's the same trans I run in my CAT truck and I had a hard time setting it up on my TXT which is a lot lighter than that erevo but I'm guessing your on at least 3s lipo. You can't get a bigger spur gear so I could only recommend going to the smallest pinion that will fit which is somewhere around 11 or 10 tooth.

thanks kent...gonna try to pick up a pinion tomorrow...

when i got it, i pulled the titans out, and put in the brushless...i got curious and bolted the titans back in, and popped in two new 2s lipos, and the mamba 5700 was quicker on half the voltage...

easier to pick up a mamba monster, but i'm gonna wait for a deal on a used on to pop up...

A 5700 motor is not enough for a E revo You need a 2200!!! a 2650 is pushing it....

Your def running a too small motor...

I run the stock 2200 kv motor and Mamba Maonster ecu geared 24/54 on 6S Lipo..... and it gets hot... 18/65 is the stock gearing for the truck

The main reason for your motor heating issue is that its over heating...from being too weak....:pics

oh well...off to hunt (wait) for a deal on a mamba monster to pop up then...
If you join the super savers club with Tower Hobbies then you get 60 dollars off...$300- $60 +$10 for the membership... so for 250 you get the 2200 kv castle motor and the MM esc:tmb

mfizzlenyc is correct. The problem you will face with the mamba 5700 is heat. The E-Revo is too heavy for a 540 size motor. The motor just wont cut it to be efficient. To run dual battery packs in series, you will need a lower KV motor to avoid the heat. Ideal would be a low KV 550 or 1/8 size brushless motor. The MMM 2200KV combo is perfect for the E-revo imop. It's very popular so you will usually be able to find a deal on the combo. Later, Combat Chuck
