OK, so I am truly a Nitro guy at heart...all this new battery technology is really Greek to me. Could you guys give me the pros and cons of running either

VS.
An 8 cell nihm pack. It seems like Lipo has a lot of extras that I need to do, like balancing, installing a Lipo low voltage cut off, fire sacks etc. I am running 10x2 speed gems on a Novak Super Duty....
I have had both types (8 cell and Lipo) both recommended by a good amount of folks. I just picked up a Turnigy charger that has a built in balancer so I can charge either pack without a problem. The other thing I am concerned about is "toasting" my speed control by soldering on it again. I had to solder the battery leads to run a single pack and no matter what I did I could feel the purple heat sinks getting warm-hot...Scarred a second soldering may be bad for my $125 investment.

Overall just looking for a good sell either way from you guys with good experience. After building my truck, cash funds are low so I do not have the option of buying both types for my own testing...Thank you all in advance!

O wate this is in the Clodbuster section so you have 2 motors

well get 2 of those set ups I linked too

with 2 batterys I would bet you could have an hour of run time

Definitely go with the lipo. Soldering a lead onto the esc shouldn't be an issue. You just have to do it quickly with a hot iron. Plus wouldn't you just be putting leads on the lipos so you wouldn't even need to touch the esc? I can't emphasize enough how much better lipo is.

Everything I have read says the leads for the cut off go on the ESC... Also is it ok to cut off a Lipos stock connectors then solder on a deans?

It's perfectly fine to cut the leads off the lipos and solder other ones on. That pack you posted looks like it has the 8 gauge wire. I had similar packs and getting deans on them was an experience haha. It does work though, just takes some patience.

The leads on the cutoff are tiny though so you can just slice a small slit in the ESC wire and tin the cut off wire a little and it will melt into the ESC wire in an instant, then just tape it up.

If you are worried about soldering then you need to buy a better gun, once you can get the solder to melt quickly your soldering worries will be done! It is very easy to do once you practice a few times.
