Traxxas traxxas 5338S TURNBUCKLES Revo 5mm

I know the ball holes are 3mm but I need to know the thread size so I can get some aluminum ball ends thanks.

The first ones are 3mm threads, the Revo ones are 4mm.

Just a warning on aluminum ball ends too, don't waste your money on them. Plastic is where its at.

either one with their end's off do not fit in any 3mm holes so there larger both larger then 3mm still.

maybe 4mm and 5mm but not sure and need to know for sure but both will not thread in any 3mm's I have.

also why plastic over aluminum for ends?

Well I can tell you for a fact the first ones you have mentioned are stock T-Maxx turnbuckles which have 3mm threads on the ends. The second set are Revo turnbuckles which use Revo ends which use 4mm threads. Are you taking into account one side of the turnbuckles is reverse threaded and wont thread into a machined aluminum part unless it is also reverse threaded?

As for the aluminum ball ends, to put it simply.. they suck. They have incredibly limited movement compared to their plastic counterparts, have more slop and develop slop more quickly and are pointlessly expensive. Plus plastic ball ends can give and break so you don't end up snapping a screw off inside a more expensive part. For pure bling factor sure.. but they get outperformed by plastic ball ends in pretty much evert other aspect of a ball ends job.

yeah I tried both ends again and also compared the threads to the 3mm threads and there still both larger then 3mm at least 4 or 5.

I have solid links where the thread post on each end and the link is all one peice and put aluminum ends on thier with lock tight and also use 3mm conical washer's on there and remove the nut that usually goes between the ball end and link.

I can't see them wearing or getting sloppy any faster then plastic but I have not ran either truck yet either and why I was wondering the difference.

not sure if it matters but I am using the two for steering links on the front and rear for my clod the super madzilla beast.

Here is a picture of both of the turnbuckles in question (the top one is shorter than the one you posted, but the same end). The top one with a 3mm nut threaded on, the bottom with the 4mm nut. Both thread on like butter.

your right and I figured it out with your help and can't believe I over looked it this many time's.

those are a standard thread pattern where everything I was trying is a fine coarse machine pattern thread DUH!! lol.

these are why I am asking.

I went that far might as well get the steering rod ends the shock end's and also the TTR MIP CVD hub's in aluminum also and can truly claim that this is a all aluminum/steel clod.

here's a pic and there perty.
