Help me Decide which BL

Personally I like my Mamba Max with the 5700 motor... on 3s it's fast! If I had to choose between your two I'd go with the Traxxas system.

I don't really know anything about Novak but some people really like their stuff.

I have VXL systems in my Rustler and Slash and they haul. I run 2s lipos and 6cell nimh packs in both, but I like the speed of an 8cell but it only fits in my Slash. One day I'll be able to afford a fatty-mah 3s pack and see if I can get my Rustler to hit 70mph.

I would also put a vote in for Mamba Max w/5700kv motor. It'll be faster than the VXL since it's a 3500kv motor on the same batteries and gearing. Plus the Mamba Max esc is programmable on a PC.

Low speed driveability VS High speed

I recently bought a Havoc 8.5 sport combo and I own a Mamba Maxx 7700Kv combo as well. The Novak has excellent low speed driveability, good power and lots of torque. My truck Does wheelies on a 6 cell 1500 mah Nicd. It only has a 2s lipo limit though. Thats where the VXL surpasses Novak, with it's 3s lipo limit. The VXL will go faster because of it's sensorless design, but at low speeds it may exhibit some cogging due to that design. The Novak is a sensored system and has great low speed control with no cogging, but the sensor limits the RPM. If you want all out speed, go sensorless. If you need low speed throttle response, go sensored.

Of the two you're asking about I'd also go with the Traxxas system, very drivable on 2s and an absolute beast on 3s. The Novak is a great racer system with it's sensored drivability but as previously stated is 2s limited.

But, me, I'd go with a Castle Sidewinder / 4600 combo. Higher RPM and Wattage than the Traxxas system and 3s compatable.

Ok so I'm looking over the mamba sidewinder and I'm wondering what the difference is between the 4600 is and the 5700 is?

They are both the same price, which is actually cheaper on Tower than the Velenion and the novak systems

I wanna go fast lol I have an itch:willy

the 5700 is faster (higher rpm) but the 4600 has more torque and will probably run cooler.

Both should be faster than the VXL which is 3500kv.

But... with the sidewinder only the 4600 can be run on 3s. So if you are planning on Lipos the 4600 would be faster than the 5700. The 5700 can only handle a 2s or 7.4v
This is why I went with the Mamba Max with the 5700 so I can run on a 3s

True. I forget about the Sidewinder's specs cuz I'm always thinking Mamba Max.

As much as I've picked up on in the (almost) year I've been into RC, I'm still kind of a noob in some areas.

Sidewinder is a good budget speed control with lots of features and Castle Creations build quality.
With the newer designed Castle Creation motors (bigger rotor and bearings i read) it will run really cool, which is what attracts people to the VXL motor.

I would buy the sidewinder 4600kv combo over the VXL system with it's premature LVC issue on 2s lipo

which BL system?

If it were my choice I would go with a castle creation system. A sidewinder esc and a 5700 motor if you plan to use 3s. If not a 3s go with the 4600. Thats my opinion.

You have it backwards... read this post.

I have a sidewinder/5700 combo in my pede and its has loads of torque, and is pretty fast, but I think next time that I'll go with the 4600. So that it'll be a little more controllable and run cooler, plus I've always wanted to try out a 3s in it for some killer speed runs. Other than that the sidewinder is great, gotta love the pc programmable part.
