I need help identifying these on-road cars i picked up from a guy locally in a trade. They both have 2-speed transmissions and are chain drive. I know they're old.......:tong
There are some Associated parts on those cars, but they are not vintage Associated cars...
They were most likely produced by one of the many aftermarket companies around during the 80's (or maybe early 90's). I'd say that they are a very cool find regardless of the manufacturer.
hate the term, but ''back in the day'' there were lots of aftermarket parts and hop ups, as well as different conversion kits for pan cars. It was so wild and varried that just about anything was possible.
The ones you have are some sort of 2 speed kits, they need some serious changes because generally the spur is mounted on the rear axle. There isn't enough room for the 2speed mechanisms.
i do believe jay is on the money or real close.i remember back when i raced my rc10 on the oval tracks, indoor and out.that was always a debate about chain drive tranny being better then a geared.had one in my rc10 for a while and to tell the truth-not better.actually more maintenance and if you can't find the correct balls-rings-chain-big waste.it did work good but i can not in all honesty say any better.oh and this was back when the hottest battery pack was a 1200scr:willy try to ballance the gearing and motor to last either 4 or 6 minute races was tedious [pending which track i raced on]
OK, I guess that I am the ONLY one Old Enuff to answer this :rof They are from Shadow Racing out of HI. The Funny Car Look Mostly Stock. But they also made a Pro Stock Car and it look's like someone Switched the Chassis. The Other car in the Pic's has the WRONG Chassis on it. It should Look like the F/C just Shorter. BTW the Other Name was Lazer Lite before it was bought out. So There You go ??? Answered. Later HB1 :burn
Thanks HB1, that makes sense since this was also in the box with a bunch of other stuff....
I guess that also answers the question on the motors too since it has the Lazer Lite logo.
I didn't post the question locally but I really should have. Again thanks for the help and I'm going to post on the local forums to see if I can get more info.
