I am bummed the only Harbor freight we have is going out of business due to the poor economy, so much for the tools i was going to get when i could afford it.:bang

Surprised that anyone still buys tools locally.

I always buy online to keep from getting ripped off locally (at least in my area) :laugh

... and to avoid paying sales tax (assuming I can get free shipping ... lol) :ack

Why not check Craigslist when you get the money together?? I'm sure that there would be a better quality Sears or similar on there for less money used.

A lot of stuff from Harbor Freight is "iffy" quality wise they say, although I assuming that going in just kept that in mind depending on what I was purchasing. So my HF transfer punches have held up just fine. But I was looking at Band Saws and Drill Presses at Sears and they were pretty affordable and imo with bigger stuff like that it's better to buy a good one once ya know? and that way you get to look at it up close and decide if you like it or not.

I had my own eye on this one last year.

At the time I did not want anything that's going to take up any room on the bench. Not only that I don't need a drill press being that theirs one in the woodwork shop that never really gets used. So I was looking for something a little smaller at the time in more conveince size that could do more things like articulate in different positions.

HF has the drill press I and a few members on this board bought for 70 bucks or less. So far all of us are happy and no issues.

Yes, if I owned a shop I might think about a bigger name brand, but certainly not crapsman. Sears power tools are not what they used to be.

I guess I would agree about Craftsman not being what it used to be. But, that's because of the merger between Kmart and Sears. Everything has to be made cheaper because no-one is actually going there looking for professional tools.

There stuff went way downhill before that deal was even made. They started to make things cheaper bc of all the people who would abuse there system and get tools for free.
